So What Happened? The Low Down.

Hello Rock Fans.  Welcome to Hair In The Air, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  I know exactly what all of you are thinking and trust me I will get to all of it later on in this blog.  As many of you know Sunday we dropped a bomb on everyone by announce the departure of our drummer Dax.  With this out in the open we are moving forward and the future is bright as ever.  I've always said that no one is ever just going to give you anything.  The pot of gold isn't going to just land in your lap.  You have to go searching for it and that's exactly what we plan to do.  This week marks the very end of our summer tour.  We are kicking off two shows this weekend to seal up The 2015 Summer Tour.  Friday, Aug.  14th we are making a return visit home sweet home for a special one night only Rock N Roll party at The 21st Saloon.  This show will be sponsored by Atomic Garage Flea Market and Gifts.  I suspect this will be one of those wild shows.  It's been over a month since we have played to the public in or around the Omaha area.  Heading home.  Saturday, Aug. 15th we are be headlining Wormsfest in Worms, NE.  There will be bull riding, openers Whiskey Bent, and we will be closing the night from 10:30-1:30.  Last year they had 2,500 in attendance.  This show will is being put on by Nitecrawlers bar and will be held at The UBT building.  $15 advance tickets, $25 day of show.

Now for the goods.  What really happened?  Well honestly we are pretty much telling it like it is.  Thursday night at rehearsal Dax approached us with a very heavy heart and told us that he was putting in his notice.  He would fill out the rest of the dates but he just didn't think he was right for this group.  He handled it very professionally and now looking back after the smoke has cleared away I see his side of the story.  Dax became a great friend over the last year and he brought a lot of good to 3D In Your Face.  Personally I am sad to see him go because I feel like we bonded on stage and off.  To say I wasn't devastated by this news would be an understatement.  I was floored, I was pissed, and most of all I felt like the weight of the world now hung on our next move.  I counted it out and this Dax was the 6th drummer that I have parted ways with.  That made me wonder if I was the problem.  I soul searched for a few days and I think I still am.  Sniper and I keep calling each other and it's the same thing, "You in a funk?"  "Yeah."  "Me too."  All joking aside I am thankful to have amazing band mates, a great road crew and a killer support system to help me through this.

Where does that leave us is the next question.  Well, as I said earlier, nobody is going to give us anything.  At this moment we are looking at a few prospective drummers.  We will be auditioning and picking out the guy that fits perfectly into this band.  Our goal has always been to put on the best live Rock N Roll show possible.  The guys It's never going to be easy, if it was everyone would play in a Rock band.  The recording of the next album will be put on hold until we get the new guy up to speed.  We will be making our next tour announcement when we have the drummer lined up and ready to reveal.  I told you last week we are sitting pretty at around 10 completed songs for the next album.  It's there, it just needs that missing piece of the puzzle.  The guys and I take this very seriously.  It's not just a job or a gig this is our life and has been for many years.  In all reality who knows what the future holds.  I do know that we will make this work and we will make this band even better.  Dream big.  Many next week when I sit down to write this blog I will be putting my foot in my mouth again.  From where I stand it's never a dull moment.

Letting It All Hang Out; "That's It?"

Hello Rock fans and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Another week down and another week closer to winter.  YUCK!  Have no fear because there are still a few weeks left to enjoy some live Rock N Roll surrounded by mother nature.  This week there is a bit of a change.  We will only be doing one show.  That is Friday, Aug 7th at Boji Bay Funhouse in Milford, IA.  We are very sorry to all of you that were hoping for a second Iowa date but unfortunately the powers that be pulled the plug and we are stuck with just one night to rock your face off.  No worries though.  This Friday we are returning to an amazing city in the heart of Okaboji for an all ages FREE blow out at a waterpark.  Break out those speedo swimsuits and mexican hats we still have some time to enjoy the warm weather.  Last year we had an absolute blast and we are looking forward to and even better crowd and bigger party.  As I stated before Saturday we will be taking the day and night off, well not really.  After next weekends shows the band will be taking two weeks off to hit the studio to begin recording our 5th album.  So Saturday will be spent diligently working on our new batch of original tunes.  If you are still looking for some action I can almost gaurantee some of the boys will be out on the town cause trouble and making a scene.  Also don't miss Hair In The Air Radio Saturday Night on 101.9 The Keg 10 PM -12 AM CST hosted by your's truly.  The rock never ever stops.

As we make this mad dash towards the last few weeks of summer and eventually recording our next album, I am trying to remember the feelings I went though right before we sat down to do the "Midnight Devils" Album.  That was my first big recording, my first full length album, and my first taste at songwriting.  I had grand illusions for that album and I think we succeeded with many of our goals and dreams for that record.  Two years later we are wiser, better songsmiths, and a tighter unit.  The Rock N Roll ideals and fundamentals are all still there and we aim to keep as much of the recording process the same if possible.  Don't expect anything weird or out of your comfort level.  We are a dirt guitar oriented rock band.  Expect big choruses with catch hooks.  Expect riffs that go on for days and get stuck in your head while you are trying to sleep.  I think our goal at the end of the day was to follow up "Midnight Devils" with a better sounding and more thought out piece of work.  We are artist and the best part about this band is that we get a chance to fully express ourselves.  We aren't copying anybody or imitating another person.  We are letting it all hang out, our hearts and souls for the entire world to see.  If people dig it, thats great, but if they don't that ok too.  We've gotten our release.

I will do my best to keep you updated from the studio and build your excitment and anticipation.  The songs are there and I think they are head and shoulders better than the last album.  If you have been in attendance at some of our shows, by now you have heard some of the better songs and the ones we have been working on for quite a while.  Those songs we are very proud of and you will soon see them they way we do.  I think most of all what I am looking forward to is spending some good quality time with my bandmates creating the next chapter for 3D In Your Face.  After recording then it's time to select a single, get the album, shoot a video, release the album, promote the album, and eventually tour in support of the album.  We will be working on our future and the future of the band.  That is what get's me going and keeps me up till 5 AM tinkering on song lyrics.  Maybe I don't go out as much as I used to but I think this right here and right now is much more important than anything else I could be out doing.  Just you wait and see.  The Rock N Roll wheels are in motion even if they may be sparking and shooting out flames.

"All That is Gold Does Not Glitter. Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost." Pt. 2

Hello everyone and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  I know what you are thinking.  Spade where were the live-blogging updates you promised us from last week.  Well to be honest with you, and I feel since we are all friends I can be honest, I figured out that the last thing I wanted to do on the road was write on a computer or my phone.  There is way to much living to be done on that tour bus for me to just simply sit there.  The dick jokes are flying through the air at mach 3 velocity and the guys are usually in rare form.  Not to mention I forgot to download the app, but I am right now as we speak and I will try this venture again someday soon.   As for the state of the tour, it's great.  We keep on movin' on from town to town.  Two great shows coming up this week.  First of all, Friday July 31st we will be heading the Across The Border Raid in Bedford, IA.  This is our first time playing this bike rally but trust me they say things get pretty crazy out there.  Saturday we are very excited to be making a return visit to the town that brought some polka into our Rock N Roll lives last summer.  August, 1st we will be playing the annual Elk Creek, NE Street Dance.  Last year was an amazing night of Rock N Roll and European history.  We can't wait to see all of you again on the road.  If you can't make Saturday's show don't miss my radio show Hair In The Air, Saturday night at 10 PM CST on 101.9 The Keg.

Since I promised you a little taste of life on the road I will indulge you with an experience that happened to us Saturday.  I'm not really sure where to begin it's a long story.  We finished up Friday's show in Sergeant Bluff and had the trailer packed up by 12:30  AM.  This put us in North Platte around 6:30 AM.  Quite a drive and major props to Alan and Mike for pushing the limits.  I woke up around noon Saturday and walked out of the bus.  It was pretty hot but not as bad as I expected.  The rest of the boys were already up and cracking jokes.  Sweet D and I brushed our teeth and I cracked open the trailer.  This set up would be a bit of a struggle as the stage was located in the middle of a dirt rodeo arena.  We set out some boards and started the push towards the stage.  It was hot and we all kept and eye on our water and sunscreen intake.  By about 4 PM we finished and did a quick sound check.  The Lincoln County Fair was gracious enough to supply us with showers but this meant weird band time in the locker room.  Not as bad as you'd think.  They had separate shower stalls but still pretty funny.  Walking back to the bus after the shower I made the boys stop at an inflatable water slide I had spied earlier.  When in Rome you always go down the water slide.  As I climbed the stairs I heard the attendant telling Sniper that the water was pretty dirty since most of the kids were coming over from the horse barn.  Great.  Whatever, I was already halfway up and the kids were giving me bad looks.  Bombs away.  Welcome to splash town.  Totally worth it.

by 5:30 we grabbed some chow and relaxed before our 8:30 start time.  We hit the stage to an overwhelmingly warm response.  The people in North Platte were amazing.  Then came the fire, the smoke, and the fireworks.  It was all smiles as far as I could see.  Then a reoccurring plaque struck my bass rig.  For the last few nights I thought my guitars were messing up but came to realize it was my wireless system.  I had to switch to a chord and limp the rest of the show tied down.  Lesson learned.  We had the trailer packed and ready to roll by 2:00 which put us back in Lincoln by 5:30 AM.  Not to shabby.  I opted to ride behind with Mike in the follow-along car to keep him awake.  The trip was going great until about 8 miles west of York, NE.  We were chatting away when I spotted sparks shooting out of the trailer.  Panicked I phoned Alan and he pulled over the bus.  The bearings on the trailer had gone out and started the center of the wheel on fire.  We doused out the flames and limped it to the next exit.  Our best bet was to drop the trailer and send some boys from Omaha to pick up the gear.  About 45 minutes later we were back on the road without our trailer and gear.  Very scary.  Huge thanks to Dave Shipley, Kenny Beager, Troy Way, and Mike Cloyd for saving our asses.  We made it to Lincoln by about 6:30 AM which wasn't bad all things considered.  This is where I left the rest of the convoy and made my way to an in studio radio interview with Dave Landis on 92.9 The Eagle.  By now it's Sunday and I was a little burnt.  I finally passed out around 1 PM Sunday afternoon.

Sorry this was the long and short of it.  The shows were great but the story is half the fun.  I promise I will get better at this for you and take more pictures.  You are my friends and I know all of you can't be there to experience the magic.  Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed our journey.

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Wait! Wait! Wait! Hold the press.  What is this a blog two weeks in a row?  Have no fear I have got this under control.  Before we get into it, I want to thank everyone that made last week one of the best weeks on tour.  The Pizza Shoppe Collective (private party) and Shooters in Kearney were two amazing shows.  We had so much fun.  It's like things are beginning to come together towards a climax of sorts.  This week we are launching into our longest and toughest stretch of the summer.  Not that playing in a Rock N Roll band is hard.  We have a few miles to burn between shows.  Friday, July 24th we will be heading up to Sergeant Bluff, IA to play the annual street dance held in front of Eddie's Tavern.  This will be our first visit to Sergeant Bluff so expect things to be loud and raucous.  Saturday, July 25th we will be making the trip to North Platte, NE for the Lincoln County Fair.  This will be our second trip to North Platte it's been awhile since our last visit and we are looking forward to showing most of Western Nebraska how we like to party.  Keep your eyes peeled for an article in the North Platte Telegraph, and radio interviews on Z-98, and Sunny Radio.  Finally Sunday I will be doing a live show with Dave Landis on 92.9 The Eagle called Nostalgic Rock at 9 AM.

This weeks blog is going to be a bit different than you've come to expect out of me.  Usually I sit and write about two paragraphs on a topic that really matters to me.  This week I want to write about a topic that may matter more to you.  This weekend we are embarking on our longest driving trip of the year.  We are driving from Sergeant Bluff to North Platte and back for two shows.  Not that this is some amazing journey, bands travel like this all the time.  My goal for this blog is to sort of live-journal our trip.  I will be checking in from time to time with updates about what happened. what we are doing, and where we are headed.  I will begin Friday morning and take you through our travel to Sergeant Bluff, the show, the road to North Platte and back and end with my live on-air spot with Dave Landis on 92,9 The Eagle Sunday morning at 9 AM.  This is as much for me as it is for you.  I will do my best to take as many pictures as possible and I will be honest with my feelings as I update this blog.  For all of you that are following along at home please feel free to ask questions in the comment box.  Let me know what you are thinking.  Who knows maybe you might even make it into HAIR IN THE AIR.  I don't want to write to much, but expect more blog posts on Facebook and Twitter as the weekend happens.

One Last Hurrah For Kevin and Shooters In Kearney, NE.

HELLO Rock Fans and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  First of all I want to apologize for being away from the blog-sphere for the last two weeks.  The summer tour has been going so well that I haven't had to much to talk about.  I didn't want to half ass a blog for you because I know you would see right through it.  HAHA!  You are the best fans in the world.  The shows have been going so great and I can't thank each and everyone of you enough for all the love and support.  Also to the 3D In Your Face Army, you guys are my heroes in and out of the trenches and make every show feel like home.  Your smiling faces are what bring us back week after week.  Lastly thank you to our amazing road crew for all of your hard work and decication.  We love you guys and lucky girl so much and I know we never say "thank you" enough.  For the updates, I will try and be brief, we are at the halfway mark of the summer tour.  The roughest two weeks lie ahead of us.  The album is coming along great, we are sitting at about 10 or 11 songs and we are starting to look at scheduling time for recording.  This week we launch off Friday with a very special private party.  Super secret doings going on but just know it's very cool.  Saturday, July 18th we are taking the red-eye to Kearney, NE to play at Shooters for Kearney Cruise Night.  This is a huge event with thousands of hot rods, customs, and muscle cars driving all over the city.  It's already July.   Where does the time go?  Also don't miss my radio show HAIR IN THE AIR, Saturday night at 10pm CST on 101.9 The Keg.

For this weeks blog I wanted to let all of our Kearney and Western Nebraska fans know that this Saturday, July 18th will be our final performance at the bar known as Shooters.  Kevin, the owner has decided to sell the bar after 11 years and it will be changing hands this August.  We can't thank Kevin and his amazing staff enough for showing us such hospitality, for putting up with our crazy baby powder/glitter antics, and giving our fans a place to see their band.  I can name on one hand how many bar owners I actually like and get along with and Kevin is one of the good guys in this business.  He gave us a chance many moons ago and we still have some of the wildest Rock N Roll parties ever at his establishment.  I've seen enough things to write a decent size book while being at his bar.  The stories alone we will be telling for the next ten years.  Always quick with a water or a red bull, his staff never once made us feel unwelcome.  Actually quite the opposite.  Every time we walked into Shooters it was like we were old friends that hadn't seen each other in 6 months.  That's the best kind of band/bar owner relationship.  I know for many of you that haven't been to Shooters this may be very hard to relate to but for the many many of you that have been there this will hit home.  I only wish that I had gotten the chance to hang out at the bar outside of us playing a show because I believe it'd be just as amazing.

I tried to look back at the records and see when our first show at Shooters was but alas all I have is a show dating back to Nov. 2012.  My memory isn't all that it's cracked up to be but I bet there were even some shows before then.  Maybe one of you can help me out with this?  Almost 3 years of playing in the same club is nothing to scoff at.  We have always considered Kearney our "home away from home" and our Kearney fans have become apart of the family.  We've celebrated holidays in Kearney, ate thanksgiving dinners in Kearney, slept in parking lots, alleys, and next to railroad tracks in Kearney.  I can't ever remember having a bad show in this great city (except for that one time we Hot Rod started the hotel on fire.  Even then what a wild show.).  We will miss you Shooters.  Thanks for giving a bunch of long haired guys that wear to much makeup a chance.  OK OK, enough of the sappy news.  Rumor has it that the new owners will be keeping the tradition alive and will be doing live music in some fashion.  Don't throw away all hope of us ever playing in that building again.  Because of your support we were one of the top drawing bands there and baby we didn't come this far to back down without a fight.  For the mean time I want to extend an invitation to all of the 3D In Your Face Army in Kearney and the surrounding areas.  Let's show Kevin and his staff a night that they will never forget.  Let's show them why we are the loudest, hairiest, Rock N Roll band they ever brough into the Shooters doors.    Spread the word and let's fill the streets.

A Low-Quality Youtube Video Will Never Do Justice To The Real Thing

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  We are only one week away from the Fourth of July.  Summer is officially in full swing and our tour keeps rolling on from town to town.  I don't think I could ever get tired of this.  This is exactly what we train for.  This week we are heading to The Capital City, Lincoln, NE for not one but two amazing shows.  Friday, June 26th we are doing a full 21+ show at Cappy's Hotspot on 48th and Hwy. 2.  Cappy's is always a wild place to be not to mention their food kicks ass.  Saturday, June 27th we will be staying in town to play the first ever Bourbon Presents: Mud Jam Festival at the Abbott Sports Complex.  This will be a ninja warrior type of obstacle course plus mud.  All ages are welcome and I believe the Rock N Roll kicks off at 5 PM.  I believe The Hairy Banditos might need to make an appearance at this type of shindig, if you know what I mean.  Also don't forget about Hair In The Air Radio on Saturday night at 10 PM CST on 101.9 The Keg.  My show will be going on as the fireworks blast overhead in Lake Manawa, IA.  Pretty cool and way to celebrate the summer.  See you all on the road.

For this weeks blog I wanted to echo a sentiment that Mr. Sebastian Bach stated in The Sioux City Weekender last week.  We had the great pleasure of playing the Awesome Biker Nights Festival last Friday and we stuck around Saturday to watch Lita Ford and the ex-Skid Row front man destroy the entire festival with their Rock.  His statement was simply "Live in the moment".  Often times we are become buried in our phones, checking Facebook, taking selfies, and tweeting that we forget to enjoy what's happening around us.  This is something I notice more at concerts than anything and it seems more prevalent in this day than ever.  People are constantly holding up their phones taking pictures and video to post up later on social media.  It's almost like you are watching the concert through some guys phone that happens to be standing in front of you.  Riddle me this, are you ever really going to watch that shitty video you took from the fifth row?  Does the world really need to see the blurry pictures you took?  Well, I'm not hear to preach or tell you what to do.  I am hear though to remind you that you need to live the moment.  Enjoy the world happening right now.

On the other side of the coin, as a performer there is nothing more I love than people that take pictures at our show. I love when we walk out on stage and every one's jaws hit the ground.  I love seeing 1,000 pictures from Friday night.  I also realize that as soon as we walk out of that dressing room we are in the spotlight and everything we do or say is being recorded.  This is a theme that we preach at rehearsals and I believe every band should be aware of.  You may as well accept the fact that this performance will be on YouTube later tonight.  I am also completely alright with this.  As we sat there and marveled and got our faces rocked off by Sebastian Bach I was completely stunned by the fact that I right there in that moment I didn't hear any mistakes.  That's the beauty of Rock N Roll.  I had watched so many videos of Bach playing and was a little hesitant about what to expect.  I could not have been more wrong.  Baz ripped out every song with more charisma and more energy than any singer I have ever seen.  In that moment he was on top of his game.  He gave us the Rock N Roll show we were expecting and then some.  It just goes to show you that a low quality YouTube video really can never do justice to the real thing.  The weather was perfect, I was surrounded by some amazing friends and the Rock N Roll was running heavy through the streets of Sioux City.  It was one of those moments I will never forget.

Oh Oh!!! That Smell. Awesome Biker Nights Bound.

Hello everybody and welcome back to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Sorry I was absent from my writing for the last two weeks.  It always seems like there is never enough time in the week but I am sorry and I know I can't take that out on you.  You people deserve a blog and damn it I am going to write you the best blog I possibly can.  Mostly I just want to let you know what is going on in our world.  We have now been on the 2015 Summer Tour for three weeks I believe, going on the fourth this weekend.  The shows have been amazing and I can safely say this has been the funnest summer so far and we aren't even halfway through.  We have already met some amazing people and been in some great new cities.  This week we are headed back to one of our favorite shows of the year.  Friday, June 19th we will be invading Sioux City again as part of The Awesome Biker Nights Festival.  This festival is located in downtown Sioux City and is a bike rally/Rock N Roll street festival.  Thousands of bikers descend onto this strip of pavement and enjoy the best of Sioux City, Rock City.  This year we are headlining the first ever Iowa Street Stage from 10pm-12am.  The fun continues the next day with performances by Lita Ford and Sebastian Bach.  Expect nothing but the best from this festival.  If you can't make Saturday's show tune into my radio show, HAIR IN THE AIR from 10pm-12am on 101.9 The Keg.

I had been planning this blog for some time now and finally just got an hour to sit down and knock it out.  Last week while we were in Norfolk, NE I was standing on this massive stage in the middle of a huge green field.  We were all stressed and scrambling to set up our show when someone next to me lit up a cigarette.  Now I haven't smoked in approximately 214 days but for that brief moment the smell of the open field, the stage, the foggers, the sweat, and the cigarette transported me to a different place.  That's the smell of Rock N Roll, the smell of life.  The whole feeling was overwhelming and really put me in an amazing mood.  Granted I was craving a cigarette like no other but I didn't give in.  In that moment I relived all of my very first concerts when I was just a hopeless 16 year old with shaggy brown hair.  I remembered playing shows like this exact one every summer for the last ten summers.  I thought about all those people I had met along the way and all the people I missed back home.  I thought about my mom and dad and my grandparents.  As soon as the moment came it passed and I was back to wiring up pyro towers for the evenings debauchery.

The journey.  The Ride.  The Experience.  This is what it's about.  I know that those memories were good but I also know that there was a lot of bad that went along with it.  You tend to not remember the bad.  Last week in Newton, after the show we got off stage and much to our road crew's chagrin we stepped into a local dive bar and took over the karaoke for one song.  The place went bananas it was like one of those 90's movies where the whole place is singing along and at that place and that moment we were kings of the world.  Afterwords we got our asses kicked by the road crew but for that moment we were making memories to tell for years to come.  I can already hear it now in the back of the tour bus "Remember that one time in Newton?".  The struggle is half the battle and the journey is half the story.  With all the stress of the tour and the album I really look forward to those moments when we just cut loose.  I'm not asking for sympathy because quite frankly I absolute love and crave the stress of all of this but sometimes those moments in time can catch you off guard and those are the moments that will stick with you forever.
