21 Gun Salute; A tribute to Randy Rhoads and The 21st Saloon.

Hello everyone and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  I would like to start out by thanking each and everyone of you for helping make last weeks birthday bash one of the best birthdays I can remember.  I am overwhelmed by the out pouring of love that I received, not only on this blog and on the internet but at our shows in Omaha and Des Moines.  I don't have words to describe how special you made me feel.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart and a special thank you to the guys in my band for proving why we truly are The Nation's Number One 80's Show.  One last thank you goes out to Sniper, my best buddy, for penning a very beautiful and touching edition of HAIR IN THE AIR last week.
Enough of the mushy stuff.  Let's get down to it.  This is a very special week for two reasons.  The first being that our spring tour has started and we will begin traveling soon.  But for all you die-hards we are still playing at The 21st Saloon every Friday until Memorial Day. I thought a lot about what I wanted to write this week and I just kept coming back to The 21st Saloon.  Our run with this now legendary Omaha bar hasn't been a smooth one.  Being a house band is more difficult than I had imagined when I signed up for this last year.  But all the heart ache and stress we have been through is finally starting to prove fruitful.  The 21st Saloon/3D In Your Face relationship started a few years back.  We were hired on to play an 80's costume contest at a relatively unknown bar in the rock circuit in Omaha.  I didn't think to much about it that first night but when we showed up and started playing people started flooding in and not just our normal fans but random people we had never seen.  The atmosphere was there, the stage was there, and the people where there.  The best story from our first night at The 21st Saloon happened to me.  I was still a tech at the time and I got up to play Thunderstruck like usual.  The song started and I began running around the bar like an Olympic sprinter.  This in itself was not uncommon.  I stopped by the stage and climbed up on a chair to try and impress the crowd below me.  When the moment hit I did a jump kick off the chair but didn't realize that the chair I was standing on had wheels on it.  The chair flew back I fell onto a near by table holding 100 cupcakes and cocktails for a birthday party.  I hit the ground, my guitar hit the ground, and everyone of those cupcakes hit the ground.  There was frosting everywhere.  I was covered.  I swiftly got back up like it was all part of the show, but the damage had been done.  Now there were no cupcakes and the birthday girl was crying.  Great job SPADE you ruined someones birthday.  New rule NEVER STAND ON ROLLY CHAIRS.
I figured we would never play there again.  A year or so later we started our residency at The 21st Saloon and I was mortified to be returning to The Cupcake Incident.  We played out our first residency which was 16 Fridays to a lukewarm response.  People were excited but the crowds just weren't there.  Hot Rod just kept telling me, "Hold on.  Keep at it.  This is going to be the biggest party in Omaha."  Naturally I didn't believe him but we persisted.  For our second residency we decided that we would invite sponsors to come and be apart of the show.  We would have a different sponsor and a different theme every week.  Our goal was two fold, first we wanted to help promote local organizations that we fully believed in.  Secondly we wanted to cross promote with these organizations and reach new fans we might not reach and in turn our sponsors would reach potential new clients through our fans.  This was all well and good.  At the beginning the crowds were good but something changed.  Over the last few months each show has been a blow out.  I mean people out the door ready to get wild.  A new person has come into our circle who believes in what we are doing and has the drive and determination to make this residency successful for everyone.  Scott, the new bar manager came in like a flash of light and has turned The 21st Saloon into what I believe to be the most best bar in the entire city of Omaha.  Now you may disagree with me on this but I stand firm in my proclamation.  Scott has taken The 21st Saloon and given it the class it so desperately needed.  He has made this place not only into somewhere for people to hang out and be entertained but somewhere that people will return week after week.  It's not only a place where you can grab a beer and watch live music it's become a destination bar in Omaha.  I should know I have been playing there every Friday for almost a year and a half.  You mark my words, The 21st Saloon is the best bar in the entire city of Omaha.
Sorry my rant went a little long there.  I also wanted to quickly touch upon another very memorable thing that happened this week.  March 19th marks the anniversary of the death of one of the most influential guitar players of all time.  31 years ago today we lost Randy Rhoads.  Rhoads was perhaps best known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot.  Rhoads practically rewrote the book on guitar playing.  His style and talent were beyond anything heard at the time.  I myself was not old enough to experience Randy Rhoads first had but I can tell you that his influence was not lost on me at all.  I remember first coming across Ozzy when I was in 8th grade.  A teacher played a video for the class that was trying to link satanism and heavy metal music together.  The songs that came from that video shaped my entire future.  Not that I am obsessed with the devil or satanism but the power of Rock N Roll and Heavy Metal struck me that day like a locomotive.  A few years later when I began my vinyl collection, one of the first records I ever got was The Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads Tribute album.  I can still remember sitting in my parents house with those giant head phones on waiting for that needle to drop.  As soon as the record started it was all over.  Randy's guitar tone has never been duplicated.  You can always listen to an Ozzy song and go, "Yep that is Randy playing".  He changed the world of guitar playing and he changed the world of Rock N Roll.  Most of all he changed my life.  Thank you Randy Rhoads you will never be forgotten.
This Friday March 22nd we are back in action at The 21st Saloon.  We are bringing Spotlight Entertainment and DJ Steve back for another round of 80's karaoke.  You get the chance to sing whatever you want (as long as it was from the 80's) on our stage with our lights in front of our crowd.  Excited yet?  We will still be playing three sets of kick ass-ball crushing Rock N Roll but on our breaks you will get the chance to be the star.  Dress the part and start practicing those high notes.

Spades Birthday Blog Written By Guest Author Sniper

This is a special blog this week for 2 reasons first and foremost its Spades birthday and second I asked Spade if i could write it and give you guys an inside look at the other side of Spade. I will readily admit I'm not a blogger at all so I will apologize in advice for my blogs shortcomings.
I actually did an interview with Sam to get a little more background on his early influences and bands and likes and dislikes etc....
The first time I actually met Sam was at the Chrome Lounge when 3D In Your Face was playing a gig there. I was not in the band at the time and had never seen them before. He was their guitar/stage tech and merch salesman. He was going 100MPH . I was like "who the Fuck is this guy with the 2 feet tall hair  ". He was a little drunk and selling merch like a madman!!!  Soon after that they had him get on stage and play a song with them. He was even more intense when he got onstage!!! He ran around the whole club and had so much energy and intensity it was unbelievable!!!! I left the club thinking "wow that Sam dude is a madman".
The next time I actually talked to Sam was March of 2011 in Wayne ,NE at a gig called The Rugby tournament . Their Guitar player wasn't able to make the show so Hot Rod called me to fill in for the night. I drove up to the gig and was told Sam was in a band that was opening up for 3D In Your Face. The band was called The Lowly Thieves. They were a fast and loud Punk type band. Sam was his usual over the top energetic self. The band was really good and Sam was AWESOME!!! When I took the stage with 3D In Your Face, Sam was pulling double duty that night. He just got done playing and now he was my guitar tech telling what i needed to do  and hand me my guitars for the night!!! That is his work ethic in Rock and Roll and in life. He never quits and is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the mission accomplished. Our friendship started that night . I found a battle buddy/Terror Twin in Sam. I consider him My Best Friend. I trust him with my life.

I joined 3D In Your Face later that week and started playing with them the weekend after that. Sam was always there helping me and teaching me the ways of the 3D In Your Face load ins, load outs and set ups. I was actually the new guy and Sam was the Veteran  He never lost his patience or got upset with me when I did something wrong or stupid. I thank you Sam for Patience.
Sam actually started working for 3D In Your Face in 2005 doing all the heavy lifting ,stage manager, guitar tech and merch sales man. He used to sit in for a couple of songs with 3D In Your Face and play his favorite guitar an Ace Frehley Les Paul. I have actually played this guitar and it is a BEAST!!! It is battle scarred and road proven. It wears its scars with Pride and is a Rock and Roll Machine.
Now some history of the birthday boy.

Sam is a song writing machine!!! We have collaborated on every new song that 3D In Your Face has written except for one. He could not be easier to work with when it comes to song writing. I have been in bands where fist fights occur over song writing. It seems effortless when we start working on a new original and I think they come out sounding pretty good. I could not be prouder or happier how the songs have turned out.

The things that you don't know that Sam does is all behind the scenes. All the interviews and corresponding with companies getting us endorsements and getting us free P R. He does this with out pay on his own time and never complains. We would not be where we are if it wasn't for Sam,

Sam was born March 17,1985 in Fremont,NE .  He was obviously different than most kids growing up. I will not embarrass him with childhood photos but I will tell you I have seen a few and they are Priceless!!!!

While in school Sam discovered KISS and Ace Frehley. It was an an epiphany. The music spoke to him and it changed him forever.

Ace Frehley is the reason Sam started playing guitar. He soon discovered other types of music and genres but Ace remains his most important influence.

Sam played in several bands before joining the 3D In Your Face lineup.

Speedkill 2003 - 2012

Officially Terminated 2003-2012

Bandit Sound 2005-2011

3D in your Face 2005-current

All of his bands toured nationally and played anywhere and everywhere.

Sam is a seasoned road veteran

I stated earlier that I interviewed Sam and got very candid answers. This is a small section of the interview.

Favorite KISS song?  I love it Loud

All time biggest influence? Ace Frehley

Favorite 3D In Your Face moment as a Bass Player? When I Look up  and see people singing our original songs.

Favorite Quote from Sniper? I'm a handful in the sack

Favorite Quote from Hot Rod? Alex I'll take blown speakers for $200.00

Favorite Quote from Playboy?  I speak with Brett Michaels from Time to Time

I 've had my fun with Sam and now I'm gonna get serious.

When the old bass player left the band I wasn't sure if I was gonna stay or go. I thought the band was done and I was going to be looking for a new Project.

When Hot Rod suggested Sam I was totally stoked and shocked. I didn't think he would want to do it. Man was I wrong!! Sam has made the chemistry of this band the best it has ever been. His positive attitude and song writing and work ethic and energy on stage have put this band over the top and made me a better player as well!!!!!

I am so honored and Thrilled to play in a band with Sam and even more Honored to call him my Best Friend!!!

Happy Birthday Sam!!!!!!!

SOLD OUT. #COUNT IT

WOW OH WOW.  What a wild week here in The 3D In Your Face camp.  I will get to that in a minute.  But first I would like to welcome you all to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Here and only here I will be giving you all the low down information about the nation's number one 80's tribute band.  So please buckle up for this tornado because there is a lot of information to over this week.

First of all last Friday night we partnered up with Omaha Night Out GuideBoulevard Brewing, Omaha Rockin' Against Cancer, and Backstage Entertainment.  Together with the help of The Queen of Omaha Rock N Roll, Susan Borchers, we raised $384.00 to help battle cancer.  One lucky fan even won themselves a three hour limo ride with 3D In Your Face.  We set the attendance record at The 21st Saloon (we still didn't sell it out but I will get to that later).  I heard a rumor that somewhere around 2000 pictures were taken of the band.  We also got the opportunity to do an amazing interview with the wonderful Backstage Entertainment.  Check this out it's a lot of fun and will make you laugh.  But most of all we were all there to help out an amazing organization.  Everyone knows someone that has been effected by cancer and this was our chance to give back in our own way.  Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in the auction.  I am very proud of everyone.  YOU ROCKED OUR FACES OFF.

If you were living under a rock and didn't hear the great news well let me be the first person to tell you that we did it.  We finally got our sell out.  If you remember back at the beginning of the year it was one of my goals to sell a show out as I had never played a sold out show before.  Saturday found us in my home town of Fremont, NE playing at The Legendary Uncle Larry's (the old Lariete club).  I was lucky enough to land an interview with 1340 KHUB the Thursday before the show and The Fremont Tribune ran an amazing article about the band in their entertainment section.  The hype going into this show was out of control.  My wonderful mother even passed out flyers to local business' in town.  I expected a great turn out but I never could have thought by 8:00 PM there would be a line out the door.  Word got up to our dressing room and we were ecstatic.  We got our first sold out show.  Now 3D In Your Face has been playing for around 13 years and we have played for thousands of people at outdoor festivals but I always wanted that sold out club show.  We busted our asses and the great people of Fremont came out in force to support us.  It was like a class reunion for the entire city.  The staff at Uncle Larry's busted their asses and they deserve a lot of credit as well.  They ran out of glasses, buckets, and beer.  By 1 AM when the bar closed it looked like a hurricane of Rock N Roll had swept through this legendary bar.  From the time we hit the stage to the last song everyone was on their feet.  It was exhilarating to look out over the crowd and see so many familiar faces.  My entire family, childhood friends, school mates, and ex-band mates were all in the crowd cheering us on.  Even some of our Omaha friends (thank you Diane and Del) Neb. City friends (thanks Chasta and Dave) Norfolk friends (thanks Kora, Nicole, Momma, and Don) and Lincoln friends (thank you Jake, Sarah, and Ian) made the trip to show us their support.  I don't have enough thank yous to express the feelings I have about selling out my first show in my home town.  It really makes all those terrible bar shows and police busted VFW shows with OFFICALLY TERMINATED  worth it.  Thank you everyone you made one of my dreams come true Saturday night.  We will be back to Fremont soon.

This Friday March 8th at The 21st Saloon our sponsor is The Glam Gore Girls.  This was one of my favorite sponsors last year and we are going to be doing this show bigger and better than before.  Please do yourself a favor and go check out this amazing group of women.  There will be appearances by Mystair, Isis, and Mandie M.  The girls will be walking around taking donations for Make-A-Wish and there will be a photo-booth where you will get the opportunity to take pictures with these Vixens of Doom and the members of 3D In Your Face.  There will also be a Glam Gore Girl raffle with the proceeds going to help send the Girls to a horror movie convention in Dallas, TX.  I really can't put into words how wild these ladies look and how much fun we are going to have. You will just have to take my word and get your ass out to The 21st Saloon this Friday March 8th.  OUR GOAL IS NOW TO SELL OUT THE 21ST SALOON.  Spread the word.  We can't do this without your help.

Thank you to everyone who was made these last six weeks the best 3D In Your Face has ever had.  We still have so many big things coming up and I will keep everyone informed on what is going on.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

New Record Update-I don't have a lot of news for you this week.  We are still in the writing process but we have been discussing locations, producers, and artwork.  We will also begin looking for record labels that will be interested in putting out the new 3D In Your Face record.   I will give you more information when it comes.

Living Our Dreams and Still Sleeping In Our Parent's Basement

Hello everyone and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR.  You wanted it and here it is The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Imagine this, we are standing on stage and our intro tape is rolling.  As we begin our first song of the night, Chappy drops the curtain and 40 zombies come alive and start growling louder than the guitar amps.  Zombies as far as you can see.  Each one angrier than the next and starving for Rock N Roll and brains.  This was the scene Friday night at The 21st Saloon.  We had one of the wildest shows I have ever been apart of last week.  If you weren't there you missed all the action.  From the time we took the stage until the very last song of the night, the Omaha Zombie's tore the roof off of the 21st Saloon.  It was almost like the scene in From Dusk Till Dawn except with zombies instead of vampires.  Thank you to The Omaha Zombie Research Society, Dr. San Guinary and all of his crew.  Also I would like to thank all of you for showing up to our first ever Valentine's Day Ball.  Thanks to everyone that dressed up and came out to celebrate.  We raised a huge amount of clothes for The Siena/Francis house.  I am so proud to be in this band and to be associated with all of you wonderful people.  It is truly amazing that we are able to unite and give back to our community and to those people in need.  There is so much more we can do for Omaha.
This week we have two great shows.  We will be traveling for the first time in 2013.  Friday night we will be back at The 21st Saloon and we have some great sponsors lined up for you.  Omaha Night Out Guide, Boulevard Brewing Co. and Backstage Entertainment.  We will also be holding an auction to help raise money for Omaha Rockin Against Cancer.  If you haven't yet heard of Backstage Entertainment, please check out their site.  They are Omaha's premier media outlet providing interviews and backstage footage from comedians, musicians, and entertainers.  Spear heading this event is someone that came into the 3D In Your Face family back in late 2012.  Susan Borchers has become synonymous with live music in the Omaha area.  I invited her to one of our shows and was instantly struck by  her smile and enthusiasm about music.  It was contagious.  From then on we have become great friends.  Not only has she gone above and beyond by promoting local shows she is also one the most amazing photographers I have ever seen.  Every Monday morning I look forward to going into photobucket and rifling through hundreds of pictures she took from the weekend before.  Each photo better than the next.  If you haven't met Susan yet she would be the woman running around the band trying to snap a picture while not getting knocked down and dodging guitar picks. She was also our media connection at The OEAA Awards.  We were definitely fish out of the water until we saw Susan and then everything felt right.  I just wanted to take this time to thank Susan for all of the hard work she does not only for 3D In Your Face but for all the bands in The Omaha area.  If you get a chance and you see her out a show please do me a favor and give her a hug and tell her thank you.  It would make all those long hours worth it for her.  Susan is also collecting money and donations for The Omaha Rockin Against Cancer benefit we are doing this Friday.  If you are so moved and would like to donate please feel free to message her.

As I said before Saturday we will be making our first trip of 2013 and it so happens that we will be heading to my home town of Fremont, NE to play at The Legendary Uncle Larry's Bar.  I haven't been home in a while and I haven't played a Fremont show in over a year.  This homecoming means a lot to me.  I will be doing a live radio interview on 1340 KHUB Thursday morning at 8:15 AM.  Also The Fremont Tribune will be running an article about 3D In Your Face in their entertainment section on Thursday.  Roughly 10 years ago I began my musical career in the basements of Fremont, NE.  I joined a fledgling band of like-minded individuals name OFFICIALLY TERMINATED.  We played our first show on Casey Frasier's patio.  In the beginning we were terrible but we always had the drive to practice and create a spectacular show that nobody would want to miss.  You have to realize at this time there was nothing to do in Fremont.  We weren't old enough to drink and we were angry and bored by our situation.  OFFICIALLY TERMINATED came in like a gang, we were rebelling against everything and I think that is what attracted people in the first place.  The songs weren't great but our shows gave kids somewhere to go and have fun without their parents and without the police.  We played fast angry music but it was also music that gave me hope for the future.  It gave us a way out.  Soon enough we were booking shows all over Nebraska and traveling in a $2000 used church van.  We booked tours and played at legendary clubs all over the country.  This little band that a bunch of friends started in our parents basement kept growing and we kept finding people that were like us and believed in us.  OFFICIALLY TERMINATED lasted many years after our humble Fremont beginnings.  Eventually we all wound up going our separate ways. We kind of grew up.  But if you were a part of that scene back in those days you will never forget those stories.  We were living our dream and still sleeping in our parents basements.  OFFICIALLY TERMINATED always represented freedom to me.  It was the beginning of the dream.  I still feel like I am paying my dues but I learned so much in that band.  You get back what you put in.  We had nothing to loose so we put everything in.  Saturday night is going to be a celebration of all things Fremont and Rock N Roll.  Those two things don't usually go together but Saturday night at Uncle Larry's we are going to make an exception.  The boys are back in town and they mean business.

I want to start a new section here.  Every week I want to update you on how our new record is going.  If you are reading this than you are lucky.  This is the first update of many and will outline all the trials and tribulations we will be going through on the road to a new original 3D In Your Face record.  Now you will be apart of this as well.   Enjoy.

New Record Update 1-  As of right now there is no name for the record.  We are still in the writing process.  We have roughly 9 songs finished and we are looking for about 5 more.  The songs we have played live include "Bleed Betty Bleed", "Generation Durt", "Forbidden City", "In Your Face", and "It's Time We Had Our Fun".  No dates have been set aside for recording, but we have begun discussing who will be producing our record and where it will be recorded.  Our goal is to make this different from other 3D In Your Face records, to stay true to our 80's Rock N Roll roots but give the songs a modern Sleaze Rock vibe.  We are aiming to capture the energy and excitement of a 3D In Your Face performance and release that to the world.

We Give You Snow-pocalypse

Hello everyone and welcome again to HAIR IN THE AIR the official blog for 3D In Your Face.  As most of you know we had a very wild weekend last week.  3D In Your Face made it's first official trip to the Omaha Entertainment Awards held at The Hilton Hotel in downtown Omaha.  We were nominated by you, our fans for the best cover band of 2012.  For years I have read about the OEAA awards and it was always my goal to be nominated and go to the award ceremony.  This year we were honored by your nomination and showed up in true Rock N Roll style.  Jone-Z Party bus out of Omaha supplied us with a white stretch Rock N Roll limousine and we cruised through downtown Omaha with Andrew W. K. blasting through the stereo, before eventually ending up at The Hilton.  As we walked through the spinning glass doors the entire lobby stopped and turned to look at use.  Everyone wanted pictures.  I have never taken so many pictures in my life.  We were true rock stars.  I even got the pleasure of having my picture taken with an entire volleyball team (wish I had a copy of that one to show the future grand kids).  We ended up at the bar and grabbed a couple drinks but we didn't even have a chance to drink them because of all the people wanting their picture taken with us.  Upstairs in the ball room we got the chance to meet some of our fellow Omaha musicians and show everyone that we were there to represent all you wild and crazy Rock N Roll fanatics.  I was so proud to be there in that ballroom and sitting at the table with my best friends.  We had a blast we laughed a lot and eventually got to see our name up on that big screen.  Unfortunately this year wasn't our year to take home the award but it almost didn't matter.  We had come there for one thing and one thing only, to make the biggest scene anyone in Omaha music has ever made.  Mission accomplished.  After the ceremony we took some time for a few more pictures and chatted with Susan Borchers, the notorious Rock N Roll media liaison, before being whisked away in our limousine.  Even though we didn't get to take home the crystal trophy I can guarantee you that we had more fun than any band or artist there.  The thing that stuck with me the most was the fact that we as a band had so many friends and family behind us supporting us.  As we sat there waiting for our category I was overwhelmed with the fact that so many people were rooting for us and wanting us to succeed.
Later that night after the ceremony each of us (except Playboy because he is private like that) posted the news on facebook.  I never expect to see such an out-pouring of love from all of you.  I think withing two days my post got 30 'likes' and 20 comments.  Hot Rod's and Snyper's posts got just as many.  Even though we didn't with the trophy Sunday night I still felt like the luckiest guy in the world.  I truly could feel the love from each and every one of you.  Honestly those comments where a thousand times better than winning some trophy.  We are blessed as a band to have such amazing fans and for you all to unite under a common goal blew me away.  Let that other band have their trophy I will hang out with you guys any day of the week.  I got a chance to talk with my father about Sunday's event and the new show and tour.  He was really excited for me and probably said one of the coolest things ever to me, "Sam (my dad doesn't call me Spade), I hope that you never have to work a 9 to 5 job in your life."  That really hit me harder than I think he realized.  I responded with "Dad I am working on that every single day."  What a great guy.

3D IN YOUR FACE HIGHLIGHTS 2012! from Susan Borchers on Slide.ly.

But in reality this whole OEAA award has really inspired me and the guys.  We have already begun to make 2013 bigger and better than last year.  Sure we had a lot of good times last year but I felt like 2012 was a turn around year for us.  I was still a new full time member and I really had never played in a band this big.  Now that I know where I stand and where the band is I am more motivated than ever to accomplish our goals and prove to the rest of the world that 3D In Your Face is a force to be reckoned with.  We are already booked for more shows than last year which means we will get to play for each and every one of you.  Now I leave it up to you.  I promise you I will work my ass of every day for this band and you our amazing fans.  You have to promise me that you will keep up your support and spread the word about 3D In Your Face.  Share this blog. Share our websites.  But most of all never stop believing in Rock N Roll.

As the impending Snow-pocalypse moves closer and closer, I want to let you know that thing will be OK and we will survive.  That's right you heard it here first 3D In Your Face WILL be playing this Friday, Feb 22nd at The 21st Saloon.  Not only will we be playing but we will be throwing our first ever Undying Love Valentine's Day Ball and Clothing Drive.  The sponsors for this week are The Omaha Zombie Research Society and Dr. San Guinary.  So what happens at The Valentine's Day Ball?  First of all we are encouraging you to bring Valentine's cards (they are on sale so why not), make Valentine's boxes (each member of 3D In Your Face will have a box), and dress as the post apocalyptic undead.  Dr. San Guinary will be shooting video for his new Creature Feature show and everyone needs to look like a Zombie or Zombie hunter.  Also there will be a Zombie makeup contest, 5 contestants will get a chance to make themselves over as a brain-eating member of the undead with the winner recieving a $30 bar tab at The 21st Saloon.  Dr. San Guinary's Zombikini Calendar Girls will be on hand to sing some autographs and take some blood samples.  But most importantly we will be collecting old clothes for the Siena Francis House.  So go through those closets and basements and grab some old clothes you don't wear anymore and bring them out this Friday.  I heard if you have a piece of clothing in your closet that you haven't worn in a year that you will never wear it again.  Think about that when you are looking for clothes to help out the less fortunate.  And finally if you need a ride Hot Rod has graciously offered up his 4x4 truck and will pick you up if Snow-pocalypse makes the roads to scary for you.  Just message him your name and number and he will swing by and pick you up. What other band would be crazy enough to cram all this into one single snow-filled-zombi-brain-eating-80s-rock-n-roll night.  3D In Your Face BABY. Get Nasty.

One more thing before I leave you.  For all our Fremont fans and my family in particular we will be at Uncle Larry's on March 2nd.  There will be an article in The Fremont Tribune and I will be doing an interview on KHUB next week.  Keep your eyes and ears open, I hope I can see all of you out at Uncle Larry's March 2nd.

Until next time.

Hello everyone and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Let me get this started off right by saying "WOW, 2013 is blowing my mind and it is only going to get better".  We have had some amazing Friday night shows at The 21st Saloon and I can truly say that they just keep getting bigger and wilder.  If you haven't gotten your ass out to the 21st Saloon on a Friday night to take part in the splendor than shame on you.  What are you waiting for?  With that being said, I want to thank last weeks sponsor Benson Bazaar.  Please go and check these guys out.  They have an amazing antique store at 6013 Maple st. that is full of everything Rock N Roll and beyond.  Tuco and his lovely wife are great people and love what they do.  If you haven't heard we are taking this week off from playing to gear up for the Omaha Entertainment and Arts award ceremony on Feb. 17th.  That's right, for the first time 3D In Your Face has been nominated for best cover band by the OEAA's.  We have been invited to the ceremony that will be held at The Hilton Omaha.  Jone-Z Party Bus has been kind enough to drive us to the ceremony in a White-Hot-Rock-N-Roll Limousine.  I will do my best to document everything that happens inside The Hilton for all those people that can not attend.
Not only is this Omaha Entertainment Award nomination a big deal to me, I am looking forward to being the Heavy Metal/Rock N Roll representative to the rest of Omaha.  I have been asked numerous times if I really think that we are going to win this award.  To be honest with you I believe 100 percent that we will win.  Defeat is not an option in my book.  In the beginning my goal was to merely get nominated and attend the ceremony but now this nomination has become so much more.  As a band we decided that we would show up in full battle attire.  HAIR IN THE AIR.  Not only to make a scene but to prove that we aren't embarrassed by the music we play or the way we look.  We agreed to wave the flag of Rock N Roll and be the ambassadors for all of our fans around the world. Not just 3D In Your Face's fans but all fans of down and dirty sleazy Rock N Roll.
We are proud as hell to be from Omaha, NE.  I know that I say it week in and week out but we have some of the most amazing fans a band could ask for.  Not only will we be standing proud and screaming loud Sunday night, but we will take with us this great honor.  When our summer tour starts we will in-turn become the ambassadors for this great city, Omaha.  Proud doesn't even begin to describe the words.  This nomination is an honor to me and to all the guys in 3D In Your Face.  Omaha is an amazing and talented community and we have been give the opportunity to represent this great city all over the country.  So to take this OEAA nomination lightly I believe would be a mistake.  I wont stand here and give you a list of reasons why I think we deserve this award more than the other bands.  But I will tell you that this award comes with great responsibility and honor.  You are representing your entire genre of music when you step on that stage.  You are representing your city, your state, and your country to the rest of the world on that stage.  So yes I am excited for Sunday's events.  We get the chance to finally rub some elbows with our fellow Omaha musicians.  I am also scared but in the good way.  The way that makes you feel alive inside.  But I also feel ready and up to the task at hand.  Sunday night 3D In Your Face will be representing every person that has ever paid their hard earned money to see us perform.  We will be representing every person that has ever bought our t-shirts or CDs.  We will be representing our family and friends.  But most importantly we will be representing ROCK N ROLL on that stage.
If you didn't catch it before, I just wanted to make myself clear.  3D In Your Face will NOT be playing this Friday in order to get ready for the Omaha Entertainment Awards.  We will be back at you next Friday with an amazing show.  The first ever Undying Love Valentine's Day Ball and Clothing Drive.  We have teamed up with The Omaha Zombie Research Society again and Dr. San Guinary to bring you the wildest Valentine's Day party that doesn't happen to be on Valentine's Day.  Doc's Zombie Girls will be making an appearance to autograph some calendars and raise something that might be considered dead.  A film crew will be on hand to shoot for the new Dr. San Guinary's Creature Feature show.  So zombie and post apocalyptic clothing is required.  The Omaha Zombie Research Society will be answering questions on Zombie survival tips along with hosting a zombie makeup contest.  But most importantly we will all collectively be raising money and taking clothing for the Sienna Francis House.  Go through those closets and grab some of those old clothes you have been meaning to donate.  Come to The 21st Saloon on Friday Feb 22nd for Undying Love Valentine's Day Ball and Clothing Drive with 3D in Your Face and The Omaha Zombie Research Society.

A Holy Experience

Hello everyone.  It is that time of the week again.  Welcome to another edition of HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Well you have done it.  You wild and crazy heavy metal-loving Rock N Roll stars proved me right, and you blew my expectations out of the water.  Four weeks in a row you have supported our residency at The 21st Saloon, and proved why you are the greatest fans in the world.  Last Friday night the joint was packed and we can't thank you enough.  Now is when the fun begins.  I have a great line-up of Friday Night Sponsors all the way into March and April.  I will get to that soon enough.  Keep spreading the word about The 21st Saloon and 3D In Your Face.  You people are what keep us going every week.  We are gaining momentum here and we need to keep it up to get us to the summer tour season.  A special big thank you to our sponsor Jone-Z Party Bus.  They have agreed to supply us with a limo ride to the Omaha Entertainment Award Ceremony on Feb 17th.   Check them out.
This week I decided to write about an easy topic but one that is still near and dear to me.  Through my travels I have had the great opportunity to pick up many hobbies, that not only pass the time but keep my mind inspired while on the road.  None of these hobbies is more important than my passion for record collecting.  That's right I have been a vinyl record junkie for quite some time now.  But don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those snoody record collectors that only buy mint first editions.  Hell no!  I want ever Rock N Roll record I can find.  It doesn't matter if it is scratched, warped, or beat up.  It doesn't matter if I have doubles or triples of the same record.  I love them all and I love the story they tell.  Not only the story the record itself tells you but the story about acquiring said record.  My first experience with vinyl as a medium of Rock N Roll was back in Fremont, NE, I was 15 and I ran into an old hippie who needed some cash and wanted to get ride of his collection.  I went to his house and in his basement he had one of those record shelves with thousands of vinyl he had been collecting since the 60s.  I was shocked to say the least.  The magnitude of music and art he had in his basement literally numbed me.  Of course I only bought a couple records.  Looking back I wish I had spent sometime going his collection.  But you always remember your first record.  It's not like buying CDs or purchasing music online.  Record buy is a holy experience.  My first vinyl record was KISS Rock N Roll Over.  How do I remember this you ask?  Well because I have 6 copies of the record in various stages of decay.  You always hear that vinyl sounds better than digital music but you can't really take that into appreciation until you put the disc on the turn table, plug your head phones in, lay the needle down, and crank the player as loud as it will go.  Like I said vinyl has become a holy experience.  It changes you.  You become aware.

Ultimately your goal is to get your own music pressed on to vinyl.  I know many bands have done this over the years and trust me it is expensive but it is well worth the time and effort.  You become attached to the band.  You not only have to pay a little more of your money for the music itself but you have to take care of the record and the sleeve.  Plus you can only listen to this record in the privacy of your own home. You begin to appreciate it more.  It becomes a part of you.  Trust me I have come close to having my own music on vinyl but close didn't cut it.  But I am not discouraged.  No way.  Mark my words, one day I will have my music pressed into a vinyl record.  I will have my artwork on display.  I will have the opportunity to invite people into my heart and mind.  Do you remember your first vinyl record?  Do you have some amazing stories about purchasing this lost format of Rock N Roll?  I know everyone has stories and I want to hear them.  Take me on a trip. I could go on for hours about record stores in wild towns, you never really know if the vinyl will make it back home safe but I have never lost one.  My goal is to hopefully someday have a record collection like that old Fremont hippie.  I want to proudly display my stories for the world to see. Hey, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met on a train in London because Mick was holding some Chuck Berry records.  The Rolling Stones started because an addiction to buying records.
Now for the good stuff.  We have an amazing sponsor for you this Friday, Feb 8th.  Located in the heart of Benson, NE is a small antique shop Benson Bazaare.  They have agreed to come out to the 21st Saloon this Friday and bring with them some very unique items.  Leather jackets, bullet belts, VINYL UPON VINYL, and much much more.  These people are true fans of antiques and they will be selling these items at our show.  We know your love for leather and Rock N Roll records so we are bringing them to you at The 21st Saloon.  So bring some extra cash and get there early (don't forget I am there all day).  Benson Bazaare is located at 6013 Maple St. if you feel like stopping in before or after the show.  They have tons of great merchandise all for sale.  Also go to Jone-Z Party Bus and check them out.  They will be sponsoring us through the month of February.  If you need a ride and want to look like a damn Rock N Roll angel sent from above, go check out Jone-Z Party Bus.

Until next time
