Reaching Out. Touching Me. Touching You.

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  I would like to start this blog off by thanking each and everyone of you that came to the first Midnight Devils performance last week in Nebraska City, NE at Sandy's.  The out pouring of love and support was amazing.  After the show as I was driving back to Omaha alone I couldn't stop smiling about what had just happened a few hours before.  We came to town kicked some ass, blew up some fireworks, and played from-the-heart-and soul dirty Rock N Roll.  I know a lot of you couldn't make the show and were wishing us well from home and we thank you for that.  We truly believe in what The Midnight Devils are doing.  Our goal is clear now and we aim to take this as far as possible.  This weekend we aren't playing any shows which is very weird.  Instead we are getting things set up for the upcoming run of shows.  Tonight we will be shooting promo pictures for The Midnight Devils with photographer Corey Phillips at a historic abandoned rock bar in the Omaha area.  Sunday we will be shooting a music video for the second single off our new album Lost In The Volume.  Both of these things are huge for the band and we have put a lot of time and energy into the pre-production of these two events.  I will try and keep everyone updated with live video from the two shoots.  Go to www.facebook.com/themidnightdevils and www.facebook.com/3dinyourfaceband and follow us on this journey.  Last but not least you can still get your fix of hairy glam rock n roll by tuning into my radio show HAIR IN THE AIR, Saturday night at 10 PM CST on 101.9 The Keg.  You can also add The Midnight Devils on Instagram at @the_Midnight_Devils and 3D In Your Face at @3dinyourface.

Last night I was asked by a great friend of mine and former guitar tech Sean of the Dead to come by and sing with his punk rock band at a show in Omaha featuring The Vibrators, veteran UK punk rockers.  It was a thrill to jump up on stage and sing two songs totalling 3 minutes all together.  The Vibrators played a uncompromising blend of rock n roll that really got my gears going.  It made me look at The Midnight Devils in a whole new light.  We aren't a punk rock band but I feel that we are taking elements of punk rock, old school glam, and hair metal and creating a style of music that is unique.  I keep using the phrase "from-the-heart" because I'm not quite sure how to put a label on what we are doing.  I'm not really sure we know what we are doing.  It's not Bon Jovi and it's not The Ramones but it meets somewhere in the middle.  The Vibrators had that unique sound and style that made me smile from ear to ear and gave me goosebumps for their entire set.  It was rock n roll no labels no bullshit.  That's exactly what we want for this band.  No rock star nonsense, no egos, and no agendas.  We are the guys in the trenches slugging it out at the tough shows because we've got nothing else to lose.  It's what we do best.

I was talking to Corey Phillips about this upcoming photo shoot and The Midnight Devils and I told him I thought this band was going to be a "Revolution".  Maybe revolution is the wrong word but I feel that it's going to bring about change.  People want honest music from guys that are going through the same hardships in life that everyone else is.  I love KISS more than any other band but Paul Stanley doesn't know what it's like playing to a half empty club on a Thursday night pouring his heart out into every song.  In the end it's not about the style of music we play it's about the emotions that are conveyed on stage or through the stereo. It's the songs that touch people.   I think above all that's the thing that is going to win every time.  It's not about playing the hits.  We've been down that road and I still love playing "Rock N Roll All Nite".  It's got to be more about touching people with the Midnight Devils story.  It's about reaching that raw nerve that gives you the goosebumps.  Easier said than done in a club full of people that want to hear Poison songs but I truly believe it can be accomplished.  Corey told me that everything happens for a purpose.  Sniper and I felt like taking on The Midnight Devils was like jumping out into dark water.  Now, I realize that that jump needed to happen in order for us to get to where we want to go.  It's hard to see when you are in the thick of it.  Without the help of certain people talking us of the proverbial ledge I don't think any of this would be possible.  "Unrest in the Midwest" is more than just a clever name it actually means that we are looking for change and on our own terms that change is going to happen.

On The Brink of Something Spectacular

Hello everybody.  Welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  I hope you enjoyed the tour break.  I sure did but I have to tell you it didn't feel quite right.  Not seeing those smiling faces singing back at me sure makes you miss it all that much more.  As I sit here tonight fresh out of Midnight Devil rehearsal I am so very optimistic about the future and I wont lie at the same time terrified.  I suppose that means we are doing something right.  I've always said really good Rock n Roll is always dangerous and always unpredictable.  That's how you know it's from the heart if it's not tied up in a nice little package.  We sit here today on the brink of a new tour, on the brink of a new band, and on the brink of something that isn't set by the numbers.  This Saturday night Sniper and I along with Jeremy "The Playboy" Deans will be taking the leap of faith into the unknown along with a very special guest.  We will be kicking off our new tour "Unrest in the Midwest" with a headlining show at Sandy's Bar and Grill in Nebraska City, NE.  This is one of those shows that people always talk about.  I remember my first show with 3D In Your Face all those years ago.  Now we are asking all of you to be there for the first Midnight Devils full scale rock n roll party.  I feel everything we have done has been leading up to this point.  The acoustic tours were just a warm up for things to come.  We are going to take this thing to the next level to say I'm not a bit nervous would be an understatement.  There are two things that put me at ease in this whole situation.  First and most importantly I know that Sniper has my back and I have his.  Having your best friend standing on stage right next to you in the thick of it brings a certain level of clarity.  Secondly I know we are backed by the most amazing fans in the world.  No matter what the band is called I know in the bottom of my heart that you are more than fans, you are family.  We are walking into this hurricane together and that feels a hell of a lot better.

Being in a band is tough.  It's hard work and long hours.  You already know all this.  It's how you handle this stress that really shows if you've got what it takes.  My idea with the acoustic tours was to keep the momentum going.  I wanted to keep us out on the road doing what we do best.  Now we have ourselves set up for a full fledged rock n roll circus.  It makes me nervous as hell but if you aren't nervous going into a situation like this it's time to get out.  After this kick off show in Nebraska City on Saturday night, we will be announcing the rest of the shows for this tour.  We want Saturday to be something special, something that everyone will walk away from with their jaws on the ground.  It feels like we are running a marathon and Sunday morning come 1 AM, I want to know that I left it all out on that stage.  We had a great rehearsal last night.  We will have one final rehearsal tonight and then there's nothing left to do but pray and practise lyrics.  I want to thank everyone that has helped us get to this point.  All the late night phone calls, all the text messages asking for advice, all the help from the club owners, and the unending support of our fans.  This music is who we are and this show is a celebration of life.  After all the drinking and the drugs nothing even comes as to this feeling.  Thank you all for getting us here.  Now it's time for us to take the torch and make something great happen.  Buckle up baby it's about to get a bit bumpy.

Check out this great article and interview in the Nebraska City News-Press written by Nikki Carlson about Saturday's show.  http://www.ncnewspress.com/news/20160915/midnight-devils-to-shred-on-stage-saturday-during-applejack

Huge thank you to Jon Kipper at News Channel Nebraska for the great interview as well.

Let's Clear It Up

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  It's finally here and I am so sad to see it go.  The end of the summer and the end of our tours.  We have had so many great adventures all spring and summer long but it's out with the old and on to something new and fresh.  Most importantly we would like to invite you all to our big celebration this weekend.  The Midnight Devils will be the first to kick things off and cross the finish line.  We will be playing Saturday, Sept. 3rd at Septemberfest Omaha in The CenturyLink Center parking lot.  This is going to be a very special show because we will be playing both the halftime shows during The Omaha Rollergirls matches.  First show starting at 6 PM and the second show starting at 9 PM.  Most importantly if you had the chance to come and see The Midnight Devils we want to thank you and if you didn't this will be your last chance to see this show before we retire it for something far better.  Then on Sunday 3D In Your Face will be opening for the mighty Lita Ford at Septemberfest Omaha.  This show starts around 6 PM, we take the stage around 8 PM, then Lita at 10pm.  Both of these shows are all ages and free with the gate admission.  Come for the funnel cake and stay for the rock n roll.  I can't wait to see all of our friends and families getting together to celebrate the end of this huge run.  Think back, we released an album, we went to Rocklahoma, we did an all acoustic tour of the midwest, and still managed to set fire to a few towns along the way.  Ahhh memories.

Now for another vague blog post that will give you slightly more information about the future of our bands.  Every one's been asking and we just aren't quite ready to make the big announcements yet.  I can tell you that The Midnight Devils have been offered a chance to take our band to the next level.  We have a drummer, we have lights, PA, and pyro and now it's time to take the big step out onto the playing field.  The first stop and inaugural tour kick off show will be Sat. Sept. 17th at Sandy's Bar in Nebraska City, NE for Apple Jack Days. We are now lining up shows for our fall/winter tour titled "Unrest in the Midwest" Tour.  If there is a town, a bar, or a venue that you would like us to play we desperately want to hear from you.  Send all booking questions to themidnightdevils@gmail.com.  No bar to small.  No town to wild.  Bring on the action because Sniper and I are ready to party.  You can expect the same over-the-top stage show.  You may even recognize some of the songs.  The rest of the boys in 3D In Your Face have also given us their blessing and we are hitting the road hard this winter.  Let's keep the magic alive.

As for the future of 3D In Your Face, I've said it a thousand times but I will say it once more.  Sorry but this band will never break up.  To many people have put to much time and energy into this thing to let it slip away.  We have shows booked for the winter but again we are waiting to end this tour before we announce the next batch of shows.  I know it's confusing two bands and all.  3D In Your Face has been our life for so long it's very hard to imagine not having it around.  I don't even like talking about it.  I can't go into any more specifics.  All I can ask is that you please support us and understand this is all coming from a very honest place.  We want to give you the best high energy Rock N Roll show you deserve.  We take that very seriously and always have.  For now I want to leave you on a positive note.  Look back at all the fun we had this summer.  Look back at all the road trips, the break downs, the ups, the downs, and those long night miles.  All of this has been leading up to this point.  I love the summer but I know that it will be another year before we are able to get back out and see some of you.  Thank you for all the love you showed us these last 5 months.  Thank you to everyone that took a chance on us.  Just a little tidbit before I leave, music video scripts have been distributed to all the band members.  We are waiting on approval by the director and approval from the location.  Before you know it another single will be hitting the streets.  Keep The Faith.  This is just the beginning.
