But, I must change the subject. As amazing as 2012 was, it's now history. We can't keep looking back and reveling in the past, it's time to move forward. It's time to set our sites on 2013. It's time to set our goals for this new year and take the next step in achieving our dreams. Whether it be rock n roll dreams, peace on earth, or just simply making it through next week. All it takes is that first step, that first push, or that first glimmer of hope to make you realize that your dreams can be your reality. I am a firm believer that you are never to old to stop dreaming. You are the writer of your destiny. Someone once told me "Never break up. If the band never breaks up, than no one can ever say that you failed". Sure this\doesn't apply 100% of the time but the theory is sound. If you never give up and never give in then you will never fail. Just recently Playboy and I went out to a neighborhood dive bar and we got confronted by a guy because we looked different. He had a real problem with the way we looked and wanted us to leave his bar for no other reason than he didn't understand us. We left peacefully and the situation amounted to nothing. But the entire car ride home we were wound up to 11, screaming and carrying on like conquering heroes. Now this surprisingly happens a lot to us and I never take it personally. The more shit that we get the more it drives me to accomplish the goals I have set for myself and 3D In Your Face. Little did this guy know, but his actions actually inspired me to write this blog and keep pushing myself to be the best musician I can be.
Everyone keeps asking me if I have made a new years resolution and my answer is a simple "no". I don't make new years resolutions. Instead I have made a list of goals that I want to achieve for myself and for 3D In Your Face. I have never felt this much excitement or anticipation for a new year. 3D In Your Face is in a great spot and I aim to capitalize on our momentum and take us to the next level. No one is going to give us anything. But trust me I will fight for every inch. I will play every show like it's Madison Square Garden. Anyone that pays their hard earned money to see me play is going to get the best show I can physically give them. Our goal is to play more shows in more states around the country. To win over fans one by one in every city we play. I want to get a guitar pick endorsement. I want to get a drum stick endorsement. I want to release our new album and have it succeed on our own terms. Not because some record label got behind us , but because we truly believe in our message and believe in our fans. I want to sell out the 21st Saloon before our residency is over in May. I have never sold out a show in my life. Mostly I want to prove that Rock N Roll music is still alive. Beyond the hair and the makeup it all boils down to the music and soul. Without the music we are nothing and I truly believe in 3D In Your Face and the music that we are creating.
What has Rock N Roll become?
Last night I was at the gym doing some laps on the tread mill around 11 pm. The gym was empty and I was completely focused on my workout. I was wearing a KISS shirt, Chucks and sweating profusely because I forgot my gym shorts and had to wear my sweat pants. I was almost finished with my workout when Brad, the lead singer for The Killigans walked by me and grabbed the tread mill next to me. Now just imagine this, Brad and I both running on the tread mill at 11 pm on a Wednesday night. For those that don't know, The Killigans are a folk punk band from Lincoln. These guys have seen and done it all. I really look up to the guys in The Killigans and respect them as musicians. I believe on that tread mill, in that gym, at 11pm we had a moment. Few words were spoken but I think we both understood what was going on. All I could think was that this was the most Rock N Roll thing I have ever been apart of. It could have been worse. We could have met in the locker room. Thanks Brad.
This is where I would post a pic of me in my sweat pants but you are going to have to use your imagination.
This Friday will be our first show in 2013. Let the tour begin. Friday, January 4th at the 21st Saloon we will be throwing our Post New Years Eve Hangover Party. We are giving you the fans the opportunity to be apart of our show. Confused yet? This Friday we will be taking request from the audience. The rules are simple. There will be a pitcher on the front of the stage. You right down your request on a piece of US currency and place it in the pitcher. We will then pull out the request and attempt to play the song that is written on the bill. My only stipulation is, NO LADY GAGA. Your money will be refunded if you put a Lady Gaga song in the request pitcher. Everyone in the band seems to think that the weekend after New Years Eve is going to be dead. I want to prove them wrong. So tell your friends, neighbors, and relatives to come out the The 21st Saloon Friday, January 4th. Come celebrate the new year with us and most importantly, lets have some fun.
