Hello everybody welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  I have something very exciting to announce, last weeks blog reached over 750 views which is a new record.  HAHA.  That's all I am going to say about that.  Let's move on.  This weekend we have some amazing things happening.  Tonight we have decided as a group to take the evening off and go out to the KISS concert for one big bash.  That's right probably one of the most influential bands on our musical careers is in town and Sniper and I will be singing loud and proud from the front row.  Saturday, The Midnight Devils' acoustic rock n roll tour will be making a return visit to The Backroom Lounge in Glenwood, IA.  This will be a 7 PM show and The Backroom Lounge will be a stop on the Ragbrai Bicycle Tour across Iowa.  That means lots of bikes, craziness, and of course some damn wild Rock N Roll.  Also don't miss my radio show also called HAIR IN THE AIR, on Saturday night at 10 PM CST on 101.9 The Keg.  This weekend we party.  Finally on Monday I will be making a special trip back to my hometown of Fremont, NE to get some much needed ink therapy from my great friend Travis at Punx Tattoo and Body Piercing.  Don't worry I will keep you updatesd with pictures along the way.  We can't wait to see you all really soon.  Don't forget next Friday, July 29th 3D In Your Face will be playing at The Buffalo County Fair in Kearney at The Buffalo Corral before and after The Bret Michaels concert.

After the stellar performance of last weeks blog I'm feeling the pressure to recreate something magical again.  As many of you know playing in a band is probably one of the most stressful jobs you can have.  Trust me if it was easy everyone would do it.  AC/DC wrote "It's A Long Way To The Top" and I think everyone musician slugging it out on the road still has a special place in their hearts for that song.  Last week we were scheduled to play at JD's in Kearney.  Kearney is roughly a three hour drive for us pulling a trailer full of gear.  We departed from our gas station around 1 PM and planned on being there for load in around 4 PM plus any stops.  We get about an hour outside of Omaha to Lincoln, NE and BOOM, a tire on our trailer blows.  Everyone was freaking out but Hot Rod calmly limped the trailer into town.  We lucked out and came across a service shop.  It was closed but by chance a tire salesman was in the garage and decided out of the goodness of his heart to help us.  We replace one tire then found that a second tire was about to blow.  Two new trailer tires later and about an hour behind schedule we hit the road in high spirits.  Another hour down the road and the trailer begins to smoke.  Not again.  We pull over and get out on the interstate with trucks flying by only to realize that the wheel bearing on one of the axles had gone out.  Damn! What now?  Mind you we have never cancelled a show in 17 years but we were seriously considering it.  

We limped the trailer to a truck stop at Aurora, NE and started to scamble.  The mechanic on duty wouldn't help us.  We tried to fix it ourselves in the parking lot but the roter was damaged.  Finally we made a call to a Uhaul rental in Grand Island, NE and they hooked us up with a 17 foot truck.   With the Captain's hat on and Sniper riding shotgun we busted our asses back, unloaded the trailer, and loaded up the Uhaul.  Back on the road and another hour's drive to go.  We made it to Kearney at around 7:15 PM about three hours later then we expected.  No room service before the show.  We all chipped in and got the show up and running in about two hours.  The guys at JD's were so amazing and very understanding.  Anybody else would've cut their loses and cancelled the gig.  We finally hit the stage at around 10 PM and didn't let up on the gas until 1 AM.  The show was insane.  Kearney is always wild but that night there must've been something in the air.  We said goodbye to our Kearney family and started packing it all back up in the truck.  By 2:30 AM the truck was rolling down the highway towards Omaha and aside from a roadcase falling on my foot, overall it was a great night.  Those are the kind of nights you remember.  A couple years down the line when we are still out navigating the Rock N Roll highways and bi-ways we will be telling this story to pass the time.  We fear nothing.  Bring on your worst.

What Really Happened Last Night?

Hello renegades, welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils. I'm going to try and take another pass at this weeks blog.  First of all I need to apologize for posting the last blog.  It was up for a few hours and I was promptly advised to take it down.  More on that later.  After taking the last blog down I wasn't sure what to even write or say on our behalf.  I was stumped.  Before I dive into the juicy stuff I have to let you know where we are going to be this weekend.  Friday, July 15th The Midnight Devils will be making our debut at The American Dream outdoor stage in Omaha, NE.  This show will be a free show starting at 10 PM.  Saturday 3D In Your Face is hitting the road to our home away from home, Kearney, NE.  We will be participating in the annual Kearney Cruise Night with a full blown rock n roll party at JD's at 9 PM.  Two huge shows this week and we can't wait to see all of you wild animals out there on the road.

So now for the good stuff.  What really happened to us last week.  Well let me tell you that nothing happened.  Nothing that hasn't been happening to guys in our position for the last 40 years.  We are renegades living an unconventional life and for some people that's hard to accept.  As long as we have the amazing support of all you, we aren't worried about a damn thing.  To be %100 honest I wrote the last blog on Sunday when I got home.  I was pissed and humilited and I wanted to tell my side of the story.  I wrote down exactly what I remembered and posted.  Sniper contacted me and simply said "Bro do you really want to air this dirty laundry on the internet?"  I was even more pissed but I reluctantly took down the tell all blog.  I wanted to rally the troops, I wanted to avenge the fans, I wanted to make my stand and not back down from these low lifes.  I was inspired and riding a white horse of justice right down the throats of all those people that were talking shit.  I let it cool and didn't say anything.  Then I talked with somebody that said "Why do you even need to give them the time of day?  Isn't living well the ultimate revenge?  Don't you have bigger fish to fry that some small town that didn't appreciate you?"  I was even more pissed but knew they were right.  I had wasted all this time acknowledging the hate and condemming it when really I was just furthing the negativity.  Boom.  There's where my mistake was.  I jump on the negativity train and wasn't getting off.  You don't deserve that and I can't promote that.  So to make a long story short I need to thank Sniper for telling me to take down the negative blog I posted about last weekends show.  My eyes were clouded by anger and I didn't want to be silenced.

I wrote last weeks blog not out of malice and not from a bad place.  I just wanted to say my peace and let people know that they can't just get away with hateful actions.  I wanted to be the guy that was defiant in the face of overwhelming odds.  I wanted to say all those things that I couldn't say on the microphone when the shit was hitting the fan.  5 days later and I'm over it.  It happen we learned a few things the hard way and we have our fans to thank for getting us out of a very tough situation.  For all of you that got the chance to read the blog about our adventure well then you know how it went and I am sorry for preaching my negativity on you.  That was never my intention.  We are a family and we stick together good or bad.  For those of you that were actually at the show, hey at least we have a killer story to tell later in life.  It's still only Rock N Roll and I think I have the best job on the planet.  I want to end this weeks blog with the last paragraph from the original post I took down.

"The only reason that I wrote this blog was to show how much hate was displayed by these people to a couple of guys that came into their town with long hair and makeup.  The Midnight Devils have always taken pride in what we do on stage and off stage.  We always push to carry ourselves as a professional band in public.  We play shows all year long and travel long hours to bring a high energy rock n roll show to people that deserve it.  We are defiant, we are rebellious, we swear to much, wear to much eye shadow, and down right love the music we play.  We also love our fans and couldn't have made it this far without you.  We might not have made it out of that bar without all of you behind us.  Fly that flag of Rock n Roll and never back down when someone challenges you.  Be different, be yourself, and do what makes you happy.  Never let some drunken locals or bar owners tell you how to live your life.  Live like a renegade."

Keep On Moving, Keep On Believing

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Big holiday weekend is upon us as we celebrate the 4th of July.  Hopefully you have huge plans that involove blowing up your neighbors mailbox or recycling bin.  As for Sniper and I we are heading out on the road for a little "legal-in-select-states" rock n roll action.  Our acoustic duo, The Midnight Devils, will be doing a very cool four day running starting tonight in DeWeese, NE at The Blackshirt Liquor show around 9 or 10 PM.  3D In Your Face played The Blackshirt Liquor almost three years ago and we are very excited to be making a return visit with our acoustic rock n roll circus.  Saturday we head to Grand Island, NE for our debut at The Glass Bar 10 PM.  We have so many great fans in Grand Island and we are excited to be celebrating Indepence Day with you people.  Sunday we move the party from the bar to the lake with our debut at Lakeshore Marina at (Hairy) Johnson Lake near Lexington, NE.  Then we head all the way back across the state for a 1 PM show in Beebeetown, IA on July 4th at The Twisted Tail.  In just a few hours we will be packing up the rental van to head west for some trouble and some good old American fun.  We seriously can't wait to see all of you.  Some it's been quite a long time and for some it's time to cut loose like we did last week.  Either way I anticipate some good stories from this little tour.

I can safely start this weeks blog by saying I was surprised by the commotion that last week's blog caused.  The entire goal was to simply squash any rumors or speculation and get the facts straight from the source.  As with all things people took it much differently that I had intended but that's totally ok.  3D In Your Face is still alive and well.  The entire reason that we put The Midnight Devils together and have been busting our asses with this band is to answer that call of the wild that seems to be raging inside 24/7.  It's that pure desire to play our music in different cities and the joy that it brings us and our fans.  We thrive as a live Rock N Roll band.  There is no other feeling in the world that can take us to that place.  Lost In The Volume is an album full of songs that express that sympathy.  Pardon my French but everyone's life is fucked up, everyone has bad shit going on, everyone's job is terrible.  There has to be some bright light at the end of that tunnel and for all us out there that light is Rock N Roll music.  It's dirty, it's from the heart, it's alive, it's dangerous, and I'm damn proud of it.  When the chips are down and you put your trust in the music and the music alone, there's no telling how far you can go.  The songs and the lyrics become personal.  They speak to you in ways that your friends or family couldn't understand.  It's a time and a place and it can get wild as hell.

I know I'm not alone when I describe that feeling.  We get that same feeling playing live, seeing peole get off on our tunes.  This weekend we head out and leave our lives in Omaha behind.  I feel like an apostle for the great word of Rock N Roll, it too can change your life if you let it.  The Midnight Devils have become something I am very proud of.  We are doing it on our own terms from city to city.  It's stripped down to the basic essence of what makes the music great in the first place.  When you open yourself up like that it ressonates with audiences no matter what they listen to.  For now I need to get some sleep before my 7 AM interview.  Just know that even though things are rocky over on this side I still have The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street playing as I write this and it makes me feel that somehow everything is going to be ok.  Keep writing, keep believing, and keep on moving.  The music wont let you down.

The Unanswered Questions

Hello everybody.  Welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Sorry it has been a week or so since the last blog.  Time flies when you are living like a Runaway.  This weeks blog is going to answer all those questions you all have about the future of this band.  I know we just released an album and went to Rocklahoma but that doesn't mean you all aren't still out there scratching your heads.  First and foremost this week our acoustic duo known as The Midnight Devils will be returning to our "Radio Riot" 2016 Tour.  Today we will be making a return visit to one of the first few venues we played, The Spruce Street Tavern in Valley, NE.  Show now starts at 9 PM.  Go ahead and get there early this will be a great night.  Saturday we pack up the mini van and head to Lincoln, NE for our debut at The Nowhere Bar and Grill.  This place is notorious for some great parties and we are excited to bring our special nitty gritty rock n roll circus to the capital city again.  Don't miss my radio show also called HAIR IN THE AIR, Saturday night at 10 PM CST only on 101.9 The Keg.

With all that being said I know there are still tons of questions on the table.  Why are there so few 3D In Your Face Summer dates?  What's happening with the new album?  What will happen in September?  All of these are great questions and a few I can answer honestly, afterall you people have always been there for us and that means the world to me.  The reason we have so few summer tour dates is that as band we felt it detrimental to our health, sanity, and overall career goals to go out and play a bunch of shows that didn't push our new album or career goals.  On the other hand, Sniper and I couldn't stay off the road.  We couldn't stay away from you people and the music so we formed The Midnight Devils and busted our ass to get it moving in the right direction.  We respect our fans world wide and will do anything in our powers to get to your city to rock your face off.  The new album is doing great.  Radio stations around the world are playing our new single and we have begun preproduction on the next music video for the second single.  It's going to blow your mind.  Last but not least September is the end of the 3D In Your Face run of summer shows.  This is where it get's tricky and I can't divulge to much information because that's still two months down the road.  There will be something that happens in September and as soon as all the pieces come together I will let you know exactly what it is.  For right now I need you to keep the faith and keep coming out to our shows.

Now for the exciting stuff.  Today Sniper and I would officially like to announce that we are taking The Midnight Devils fully electric.  We will still do the acoustic shows but we are looking to put together a band that will play loud kick ass rock n roll.  So in essence we are now starting the process of looking for a drummer for The Midnight Devils.  Our goal is to be show-ready in a few months and kick off the fall/winter season in full sleazetastic style.  We would like to start auditioning all those drummers that are intersted in being a full time member of this band.  We are looking for a drummer that looks the part, acts as a team player, and can beat the hell out of the drums.  Must be willing to practice 1-2 times a  week and gig 1-4 times a week.  If you are intersted in joining The Midnight Devils please send us an email at sammorrisrnr@gmail.com.  We are looking forward to taking this huge leap and we hope everyone is onboard with our decision.  Thank you and good luck.

Hello everybody and welcome to Hair In The Air, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Summer is kicking up into full swing and we are right on the heals of something amazing.  The air is thick with excitement and baby it's time for a release.  This week the full band is off to recharge the batteries but Sniper and I aka. Now for the good stuff.  I have actually been saving this blog for a little over a year now.  Back in 2015 when we were still writing for Lost In The Volume, I recorded my demo version of track 4 "Memphis Mile".  This was just me playing guitar and singing by myself alone in my apartment.  I had just finished the lyrics and this was the final take that I took to Sniper and the rest of the guys.  I thought it would be very cool to put the two versions side by side and see how the song changed over a year.  This song was probably one of the easiest to write and came very naturally.  Some say a follow up to 2013's "Bleed Betty Bleed", when in reality it's just us trying to right a dirty old Rock N Roll tune.  I can't remember the first night we played this but I remember being nervous as hell and to this day I still mess up the lyrics from time to time.  Check out these two tracks, the demo of "Memphis Mile" and the final album cut of the same song.

Sam Spade's Rocklahoma Review

First of all Rocklahoma has been a goal of mine ever since the festival began.  In the beginning it was purely a hair metal festival and I said "one day I will be there".  After a lot of hard work I finally got in contact with Retrospect Records owner Sam McCaslin.  He liked what 3D In Your Face was doing and invited us to be apart of this festival last year.  It wasn't in the cards for us but I promised him we will make it in 2016.  We as a band decided that no matter what this was our chance to do something big with our new album.  The journey started Wednesday, May 25th with a warm up gig at The Chrome Lounge with Texas Hippie Coalition, Sons of Texas, and John Doe.  This was a stacked show and of course from the get go things were behind schedule.  We weren't sure what to expect but our show went great and I think we surprised a ton of people with the new songs from Lost In The Volume.  I'm not one to talk shit on any band but during our last song a member of another band stormed the stage and started screaming at me "Get off.  You guys are done.  You are over time.".  I couldn't stop the show so we played our last song and then it hit the fan.  No punches were thrown but it was tense in the parking lot after we left the stage.  After the show we hit the road towards Pryor, OK, arriving at 7:30 AM.

We pulled up to the gate and the door guy wouldn't let us in until our label representative escorted us in.  Of course he wasn't awake it was 7 AM.  So we parked the bus at the gate and slept for 5 hours until they let us in.  After we finally got in I was so excited that there was no sleeping.  We started networking and chatting with the people already inside the campgrounds.  To our surprise people already knew who we were.  The hair, the bus, and the videos really helped get the word out before we even played a note.  The first band we ran into was Nightrain, a cool sleaze band from Norway.  We eventually became great friends with these guys and hung out with them for the rest of our stay at Rocklahoma.  The first interview on the list was with Thunder Underground.  Check out Jason and Trent's review here.  We then caught the blistering set by Moxy and The Influence.  We took the Camp Jager stage at 9 PM sharp to a very eager and enthusiastic crowd.  It was fantastic.  I don't even have words.  So much fun.  After our show Nightrain destroyed the place again.  We partied and watched bands all night until 4 AM with our new friends and fans.

Day two started off pretty early with the alarm going off at 11:30 AM.  Sniper and I got dressed and had to be at the media tent by noon.  Inside of the media tent I had interviews set up from 12-3 PM.  Everyone was very excited to see us and we ended up running into fellow Omaha natives Arson City and Screaming For Silence.  3 hours of interviews, while fun is exhausting.  We hit the catering tent and ran into fellow label mates The Tip.  Imagine that scene at dinner.  By about 5 PM we finished getting dressed and ready for the evenings show and took the stage right after Sixx A.M.  The crowd was huge and ready for some glam slam rock n roll.  We tore through a 40 minute set and I finally got that feeling that all the hard work was somehow worth it.  We packed up and headed to the merch tent and met some of our new friends and fans.  You get used to taking pictures with people but at this level it was almost non-stop.  No complaints at all.  We made it back to the bus, had dinner, and got changed.  Stumbling back into the festival still covered in makeup and glitter we caught the end of Rob Zombie's set.  Probably one of my favorite acts Last In Line was scheduled to play and we had to cross a sea of 50,000 people to catch their amazing Ronnie James Dio set.  Around 11 we ventured back to our stage and caught an amazing set by The Hellectrocuters from France then headed to the after party.  I told you this was an all night affair.  The final band that we caught was fronted by a fully costumed Umpa Lumpa.  I didn't take any acid that night but I think everyone was tripping watching this band perform.  I think we called it quits around 5 AM.

Saturday started a little later with a few interviews at 2:30 PM in the media tent.  We went back to our stage inside the festival and caught sets by Salems Lott, Collectve Soul, and Mycah.  This was all building to a performance by the modern glam rock godfathers Prophets of Addiction.  These guys played some New York Dolls/Ramones infused rock n roll.  Truly amazing that these guys are our friends.  Then it was time for the reason we all came to Rocklahoma, The Scorpions.  Even though we were standing about 200 yards back, hearing those songs played nearly brought me to tears.  I mean I always dreamed of it but now it was actually happening.  We then caught sets by Ragdoll and Freeway Mad.  The after party at Camp Jager was taken over by the wild leather clad glam boys.  It was truly a sight to behold.  We stood around talking and hanging out until 5 AM.  Calling it a night for the 3rd day of Rocklahoma.  I woke up Sunday in Kansas City, MO.  Due to our generator breaking down on the bus we had to limp back home to Nebraska.  We had been sitting in a field in Oklahoma all weekend with no power and no AC.  Not to bad but a night time drive seemed a little bit more dangerous so we had to push it back home.  It was sentimental leaving and watching all of our friends back at the festival finish off what we started.

Thank you to my band mates, our road crew, my friends, and family.  Without your continued support there is no way we could have made this dream a reality.  Most of all thank you to Sam at Retrospect Records for giving us a shot.  We will never forget you.  See ya next year.

Things are really starting to heat up in our world, new album, summer tour, and Rocklahoma 2016.  This is honestly one of the most exciting and terrifying times I've ever had playing in a band.  The pressure is relentless but I totally feel that we have this thing under control.  So on a lighter not I want to introduce you to the newest member of the team.  Ladies and gentelman tonight I will be breaking out my brand new baby.  I introduce you to.  I bought this guitar used from a friend and when i acquired it the previous owner had hand painted it flat black. I always told myself that one day I would have a neon pink guitar.  So I pick this one up cheap and shipped it to Lee Garver at GMW Guitar Works in California USA.  I only had a few request.  "Please paint it the brightest pink you can find and fill in the volume and tone holes".  A few months later I had an electric pink guitar sitting in Nebraska.  I then had Todd at Tone Whizard wire the pick-ups straight to an on/off switch.  I took the pick gaurd, truss rod cover, and cavity cover to my bass student Chris Stoffel who created steal versions.  These were then chrome plated and reinstalled.  To finish it off Jim Howell help design and create a one of a kind vinyl "Sam Spade" decal for the back.  All in all this guitar is the prettiest thing I have ever owned and it sounds bad to the bone.  A true Sam Spade custom and it will be live and louder than hell this Friday.  Just a little fun during these crazy times.
