In The Air Tonight!

Hello everybody and welcome to The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  What a weekend we have coming up.  First of all it started with a bang as The Midnight Devil boys got invited to witness the spectacle that is Trans-Siberian Orchestra live at The Mid America Center in Council Bluffs.  Our good friend and my radio boss Mr. Crash Davis hooked us up with great tickets.  As we were leaving Sniper knew one of the security guards and he gave us VIP and backstage passes.  Now I'm definitely not the kind of guy that gets sentimental over meet and greets.  They are usually awkward and I never know what to say.  Al Pitrelli and the rest of his band were amazing and very personable to talk to.  Just the beginning of a great run here in Omaha.   Today we are releasing our new video and single for the song "Baptized by the Radio".  This new video will be released via Youtube at Midnight tonight but if you are present at The 21st Saloon you will get a very special live preview of the video before the rest of the world.  That brings us to tonight's show, The Grand Return of 3D In Your Face to The 21st Saloon.  We are doing a two night stand at our home away from home.  That's right a Friday and a Saturday show for all you lucky boys and girls.  Not only is this a special show but our crew has been busting their asses all week covering the back wall of The 21st Saloon stage with a giant video wall.  This is going to be a show unlike any you have seen in an Omaha club.  Things are about to get real.  We've played over 160 shows over 5 years at The 21st Saloon and we think of everyone there as family.  Come and join your messy, dysfunctional, loving family for one hell of a rock n roll celebration.  Shows start at 9 PM Friday and Saturday.  See ya there.

As we were walking into TSO tonight I caught a glimpse of us in the window of the door.  Three dudes with long hair, black jeans, and black leather jackets.  It's slightly by coincidence but I felt like I was part of a tough street gang heading into a rumble.   It was bad ass and I always forget how much I love hanging out with my band mates outside of rehearsals and shows.  I was interviewed today by Sam Pimper from The Fremont Tribune and we chatted about my old band from Fremont.  He asked "What it was like touring at such an age?"  I was honest I told him it was rough but extremely rewarding.  We were all best friends that hung out everyday and not just because of the band  We got drunk together, we got in trouble together, and we grew up in bars and venues across the Midwest.  We were terrible but we were hell bent on getting the hell out of Fremont and getting on with our adventure.  Any time you get those same feelings you get when you first started playing music it's a good thing.  You remember why it was you gave up everything else to pursue one of the most difficult careers in the world.  Officially Terminated was terrible for a lot of years but that's because we had to learn how to be a better functioning band and learn on our own terms.  By the time we finished playing we were untouchable in the local music community, or at least that's how I felt.

At this moment The Midnight Devils are giving me that same sensation.  Put us town to town with anybody else and we will boogie with the best of em.  Let me drive this point home though, it's not about the musical skill, or the money behind the band.  No it's about that smile that come across our faces as we hit the first note of the evening and we just know everyone is in store for quite the wild journey.  As I said before it's unpredictable and unstable.  With the return of 3D In Your Face it's like the family is getting back together and not just the band it's the you the fans as well.  We've had so many great times playing at The 21st Saloon.  It almost chokes me up a little bit.  3D In Your Face has been home for a lot of years and to get that lighting bolt back feels pretty special.  We have created something out of nothing and I keep having to remind myself of that.  Every thing we did the last 6 years we went out and got for ourselves.  You are never given anything in this business.  We all had goals coming into this and every time one of those goals gets met we set the sights a little higher.  My goal for this weekend is for us to sell out The 21st Saloon tonight and for our video to hit 10,000 views in a month.  Lofty I know but I believe this video is going to blow your mind and this show tonight is going to rip your face off.  Get ready because the train is leaving the station.  See ya real real soon.  Keep on believing.

Special thanks to our street team and all of those that have been helping us promote these upcoming shows.  "Get Street Team" was always a goal and now we can check that off.  We couldn't do it without you.

Who Will Be Drumming For 3D In Your Face?

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official blog of 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils.  I know you are all eagerly awaiting the big news.  Before we get into the dirty details, I would like to thank everyone that read last weeks blog.  You broke the record amount of views I have ever had for one blog post.  I would also like to thank Hot Rod for stepping up and guest writing.  This week we are taking a bit of time off in order to prepare for next weekends big release show.  3D In Your Face will be making our big return to The 21st Saloon in Omaha, NE on Friday, Nov.17th and Saturday, Sept. 18th.  We haven't preformed at The 21st Saloon since May 2016.  Not only is this going to be a giant rock n roll celebration but we will also be releasing the 2nd single and brand new music video from our latest album Lost in the Volume.  Have no fear if you can't make the show we will be releasing the music video live to the world via Youtube at 12:00 AM CST Saturday the 18th.  The 2nd single from the Lost in the Volume album is track number 8 and is called "Baptized by the Radio".  We filmed the music video at a bar called Don's in Memphis, NE back in August.  I can't tell you how excited I am for you to see this music video.  See you next weekend and don't forget to tune in to my radio show HAIR IN THE AIR at 10 PM CST this Saturday night on 101.9 The Keg.

So who is the new drummer for 3D In Your Face?  As many of you know we have had our share of drummers over the years.  I don't have one bad thing to say about any of the drummers that took the stage with us.  I realize that 3D In Your Face is a mega commitment.  You must be willing to give up everything in order to meet the demands of this band.  There are long hours, loads of miles, and three other big personalities to deal with.  No easy task.  Two years ago we parted ways with the current drummer at the time and one of my best friends, Jeremy "The Playboy" Deans.  We kept pushing forward through some great times and very tough set backs.  Two years later and it comes back full circle.  I am very excited and happy to say to you today The Playboy is back.  Last year Jeremy reached out to me on Thanksgiving and said "Let's jam again."  When The Midnight Devils started going electric we invited him over for a rehearsal and he showed us again why he was the best rock n roll drummer in this city.  We knew we needed him back in our lives.  It was only natural that we get him back involved with 3D In Your Face.  To see this guy perform on stage is mind blowing.  He plays good and he looks good doing it.  Not only is The Playboy a phenom on the drum kit but he may also be one of the funniest and nicest dudes I have ever met.  Backstage before the shows it's dick and fart jokes all the way until our intro is rolling.  In this business I've learned that you never say never.  We are truly greatful to have The Playboy back with us.  Just wait until you see him play and you will understand everything.

Before I let you go, today is Veterans Day and I always feel so much pride today.  I feel like I am friends with some of the greatest men and women on the planet.  These people are real heroes that sacrificed everything and did everything that their country asked of them.  I come from a family with a very rich history of US War Veterans unfortunately I was so young at the time that I didn't get to fully appreciate most of them.  With 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils I have found another family that has been blessed with heroes who are also into Rock n Roll.  Today I want to wish my family members Mike Cloyd, Matthew Miller, Sean Soucy, Gerald Glaza, and Corey Phillips a very happy Veterans Day.  I love you guys and I have trouble putting into words the amount of respect and admiration I have for you and what you did for this country.  Last but definitely not least my best friend and song writing partner is also an American War Veteran.  Chris "Sniper" Hineline and I have been through a whole heap of shit these last 6 years and I wouldn't change that for the world.  I love hearing the old war stories on the bus a 3 AM rolling down the highway.  I love how he tells me "You'd make a poor ranger." everythimg I stop the van for a coffee break.  His drive and work ethic has pushed 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils to a place we only dreamed of.  The works not even close to being done and we will keep pushing ourselves harder because we truly believe in this thing.  Happy Veterans Day to my best friend and rock n roll soul mate Sniper.  Here's to another 6 more years of dirty rock n roll on our own terms.  Death From Above.

To The 3D In Your Face Army
Many of you have wondered and asked many questions in regards to 3D In Your Face and The Midnight Devils. Let me help shed some light on this and hopefully answer some of these questions.

I am fortunate to have three very talented musicians working with me in 3D In Your Face. These guys are so talented and driven that they have also formed The Midnight Devils to continue expressing, exploring and performing music in the Midwest. Not just some of the greatest 80s music, but also to explore other avenues of music . Yes, they love performing for you that much.

I completely and whole heartedly support The Midnight Devils in everything they do. This is great news for fans of 3D, as it now means there will be more opportunities for you to enjoy your favorite music and band members. It also gives our fans a greater variety of music and entertainment.

While I love performing for our fans every week, due to my personal schedule and other obligations it makes performing EVERY week an extreme challenge for me. Some of you know that my family is now in Parker, Colorado and it is more difficult to spend time with them being so far away.

3D In Your Face was formed 18 years ago to create an incredible production and event at every show. In order to meet those demands, a great deal of time goes into preparation, crew, equipment and the performance. I will and shall continue to do 3D In Your Face shows with my talented band mates, but only when we can meet these standards. Many of our fans came to see us perform every single weekend. They made long road trips, financial and personal costs, and are committed to the success of the band. Words cannot express how deeply honored I feel and I do not take that commitment lightly, and I can tell you neither do the rest of the 3D band and crew. The belief in the band and our fans commitment is the reason why 3D In Your Face has performed for 18 years and will still continue to do so.

As for Alan King Aka Hotrod. I am spending some time with my friends and family and also some time recording and exploring my talent. I am also very excited preparing for the upcoming 3D  In Your Face shows.  Nov 18-19 Friday AND Saturday at the 21st Saloon on 96th and Lst in Omaha, NE.  This will be the return to many, many friends, family, and fans. In honor of this return, the rest of the guys and I have agreed that it will be something bigger, crazy and more spectacular than any of the previous 160 shows at the 21st Saloon. Months of prep and planning have been going into this event. And this will be an EPIC show miles above and beyond anything you have ever seen before. This return will also include the release of our new video for the new single “Baptized by the Radio” from our 5th original CD “Lost in the Volume”. If there was a weekend to be sure and see 3D In Your Face, Nov 18-19 will be the weekend. One night or both, if you are reading through this then you are required to attend!

I look forward to spending time with the 3D In Your Farce fans and friends very soon, and yes there is a good chance you may also find me at an upcoming Midnight Devils show.
