Heading To The Highway

Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Can you smell that in the air metal maniacs?   Can you feel that burning in your loins?  Do you feel yourself turning slowly into something different as the sun goes down?  Spring is here all you bad boys and bad girls and you know what that means.   Summer tour season is about to kick into full effect.  I think I have written this blog every year right about this time.  The shows are coming in and our summer is filling to epic proportions.  A new album to promote.  A new video on the horizon (sssshhh).  Another Rock N Roll journey we are all about to embark upon.  Before I get you all excited for the long summer nights and steamy summer days.  I want to take a minute to thank the 3D In Your Face Army for delivering us a solid victory on the Jim Santora Rockcast.  For ten weeks straight we stood up strong against the best of the best and the 3D In Your Face Army delivered.  After a ten week run we were put into The Rockcast Hall of Fame.  Thank you very much to our giant family for coming together.  This means so much to the boys and I.  Without you we are nothing.  Take a listen to the championship 10th win and an interview with Sniper and I right HERE.  Thanks Jim Santora you put on one hell of a radio show.

This week marks the first week of our summer tour and our life on the road for the next few months.  Not that we haven't been playing every week and traveling a bit here and there.  This is when things start heating up.  We kiss our families goodbye and step aboard the mighty rolling Eco-Lodge (Our Tour Bus).  This weekend we are heading to Kearney, NE our home away from home for a two night run at Shooters.  To all those Kearney people reading this, I read you loud and clear.  It's time to set this town on fire with Rock N Roll.  If you have never been to Kearney, NE, let me tell you this town loves to party and brings it every single time.  Every great 3D In Your Face story starts with "This one time in Kearney".  Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th a special two night performance you wont want to miss.  I am really looking forward to seeing some great friends.  We get to sit down and chat with the founder and CEO of The 3D In Your Face Army, Jim Kaufman.  (Hmmm I might have a great idea for next weeks blog).

The 3D In Your Face tour bus has always been a sacred place for me.  Ever since the beginning.  The sights, the sounds, and the smells.  The bus doubles as our dressing room when the proper accommodations aren't available.  The first thing you notice is the outside of this big burgundy monster.  She has seen a lot of miles and she has lead us into many battles all over the United States.  As soon as you walk in you are hit by the smell of four Rock N Rollers that live together, write together, rock together, and play together.  To the common person it might smell a bit pungent but to me that is the smell of Rock N Roll.  I love it.  Enter the first lounge and that is where the magic happens.  Moving backwards are 8 bunks stacked on-top of each other.  I have the middle bunk above Mike and below Hot Rod.  I don't remember if I made the covers on my bunk before we left for the winter.  Hopefully there aren't any surprises when I roll back the covers.  Sniper has the biggest bunk because well he is a veteran and he deserves it.  Plus that bunk is closest to the bathroom.  For some reason The Playboy gets the luxury of sleeping in the back bedroom in the big bed.  Imagine if you will a room full of drum hardware, baby powder, and broken shoes strings.  There you will find The Playboy.

Can you hear that metal maniacs.  The road is calling our names.  It takes a special kind of person to brave the Purple Rock N Roll Beast.  Once she starts roaring, look out!  We are coming to you town and I hope you are ready for one hell of a Rock N Roll party.

All upcoming tour dates are HERE!

Good Bye My Sweet Darling. The End of an Era. HI HO SILVER AWAY!

WOOOO!!! What a wild ride.  Hello everybody and welcome to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  Before we get going I want to thank all of our fans, friends, and family for all the amazing birthday wishes and presents.  It was truly my honor to celebrate my 29th birthday with all of you people.  Even if you couldn't make one of the shows I know you where there in spirit.  The insanity continues this week.  There are big things happening and because you are reading this you need to know what is happening in the world of 3D In Your Face.  First of all on Wednesday, March 19th 3D In Your Face will be stepping into the Triple Threat Match on The Jim Santora Rockcast.  This is the final match.  This one is for all the marbles.  This will be win number 10 and put us in the hall of fame.  Please tune in here and vote vote vote.  Tell your friends to vote.  If you only vote for one thing in your entire life vote for Rock N Roll.  The show starts at 7 PM CST the competition begins at 8 PM and voting usually happens around 8:30 PM.  Win or loose Sniper and I will be doing a live interview after the match around 9:15 PM.

Around 10:15 PM Wednesday night Sniper and I will be doing another interview on Paranormal Mojo Radio.  This one is going to be a little different.  Tune in here.  This show is dedicated to the supernatural.  Sniper will be talking about his ghost experiences and I will be discussing the inspiration behind a few of the songs on our new album.

Friday, March 21st we are returning to The 21st Saloon for another wild night of Omaha Rock N Roll action.  Your sponsor for this show is Atomic Garage, they will be selling motorcycle jewelry, rings, necklaces, belt buckles, purses, and weapons of mass destruction.  We will be celebrating some more birthdays.  I can't wait to see you all back home at The 21st Saloon.

Time for the goods.  It is with great pleasure that I am welcome someone very important to me to the 3D In Your Face Army.  This person came into my life on Friday night and I am very honored to have a new companion on this journey.  On the other hand I am very happy to say that I have lost a dear friend that has been with me from the start of my career as the bass player in 3D In Your Face.  Alright enough dragging this out.  This week I am officially retiring my white Thunderbird bass.  After three years of faithful service I opened up the case one day and the guitar was broken, it had just given up.  Rather than glue he back together I think that I am just going to retire her to a life of apartment living.  This was the first bass I bought when I got the job as bass player in 3D In Your Face.  I always remember seeing Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson playing a white Thunderbird bass and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.  This bass has been in the trenches with me since the beginning.  I even recorded all of the bass lines for our new "Midnight Devils" album with this bass.  As sad as I am to see her go.  I know it's only a matter of time before it gets smashed beyond play-ability on stage.  I tend to play a bit rough if you haven't noticed.

I would like to introduce to you my newest piece of artillery, Silver.  I picked up this little beauty as an early birthday present.  It's a limited edition Epiphone Thunderbird in TV Silver, there were only 1, 000 made.  Not only do I have a new bass but one of sponsors, Joe from Party Express Bus Nebraska, got me a new case for this new T-Bird.  Nothing compares to the feeling of a brand new guitar.  I especially like peeling off all the plastic, putting on new strings, and Spade-proofing a new weapon.  Silver will now take the place as my main bass.  A truly stunning beauty.  I couldn't be happier.

You may ask why I am making such a big deal out of a new guitar.  It's the celebration of the past mixing with the anticipation of the future.  I love that white bass and I took it everywhere with me.  Now I have a new girl and we are going places never before realized.  Hello summer tour.  Hello new album.  Hello world.  It's my pleasure to introduce to you Silver.

To Greg and Stacia, Gary and Beth. I Don't Think You Even Realized.

Hello everybody and welcome back to HAIR IN THE AIR, The Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  This week has been one hell of a week.  To top everything off this weekend we will be throwing two huge birthday celebrations.  That's right baby, we are officially celebrating my 29th birthday.  I can't tell you how excited I am to see all of my friends and family. Before I tell you about the shows I have two radio events that are happening tomorrow.  Wednesday, March 12th  I will be doing a live interview with Rych Rage Rock Show at 9 PM CST.  Tune in here.  Also The Jim Santora Show Rockcast is back in action this Wendsday.  We are looking to take another victory back to Omaha during The Triple Threat Match.  Please tune in here, around 8:00 PM CST, voting begins after all three bands have played.  We need your help to win this thing.  On Friday, March 14th we will be throwing an all out birthday/St. Patty's Day bash at The 21st Saloon.  This show will mark our 75th performance at The 21st Saloon.  You wont want to miss this show.  Saturday, March 15th we will be taking our fiesta on the road to Cappy's Hot Spot in Lincoln, NE.  This of course will be another birthday/St. Patty's Day rage fest.  IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND YOUR ARE ALL INVITED.

Now for the good stuff.  Every year when it gets close to my birthday I remember two things that happened to me during my formative years that changed my life forever.  I want to thank my parents so much because if you had not done these two things for me, who knows how my life would have ended up.  The first thing that happened was when I was 16 or 17 my parents cracked under the pressure and bought me my first guitar.  I was a huge KISS fan at the time and I wanted a Les Paul (like Ace Frehley) more than anything in the world.  My amazing parents came to my rescue and bought me a Cherry Sunburst Epiphone Les Paul Special with a Peavy Amp.  I was on cloud nine.  I had no idea how to play but I thought by maybe watching KISS videos I might be able to pick something up.  Not the case.  But I eventually started taking guitar lessons from an old blues musician.  He unfortunately didn't share in my passion for Rock N Roll music.  I was stuck learning blues scales and boring songs.  I hated it, but to the credit of my guitar teacher he taught me rhythm and chords.  I would eventually begin to build my speed up.  It wasn't a year later that I tried out for my first band as a lead vocalist.  My audition song........"Rock N Roll" by Led Zeppelin.  I didn't get the gig.  A few months later I auditioned for a guitar player position in a local punk band called Officially Terminated.  I sucked big time but so did the rest of the guys.  I got the gig.  Within a year I would be playing my first show in Casey Frasier's backyard.  Officially Terminated lasted for 7 years, touring, writing, and playing some of the wildest shows you can imagine.  All this thanks to that first Les Paul, which eventually was stolen from our practice place in Lincoln.  You will never be forgotten.  I signed my name underneath the pick-up just in-case anyone ever comes across one.
Cherry Sun Burst Epiphone Les Paul Special.
The second thing that happened to me for my birthday was that my parents agreed to take me and my best friend to go and see KISS in Omaha.  I remember being floored when I opened this gift.  I had a ticket to the greatest show on the planet.  The year was 2000 and the show was to be held at the historic Civic Center in the heart of Omaha. Also on the bill was Ted Nugent, who I had heard of because of Cat Scratch Fever and a band I didn't know much about Skid Row (hey I was 17).  We arrived at the show early of course and my parents had no wish of going with us down onto the floor.  This was one of the last general admission shows at The Civic Center.  We ran towards the front and ended up standing about 5 rows from the barricade.  The air in that place was electric.  I was beyond nervous, terrified, and excited.  As soon as the lights went down the crowd surged forward and we were trapped inside this sweaty sea of people.  Luckily they were all KISS fans and everything was beyond cool.  The smell of marijuana overpowered the oxygen.  I remember having my face destroyed by Skid Row.  I would see them three more times in the next year.  Ted Nugent not only performed he captivated the audience.  There where topless women, drugs, and booze everywhere and all I could think of was that my parents where sitting way up in the balcony seats looking down on this Rock N Roll Sodom and Gamora.  Then it was time for KISS, "You wanted the best, you got the best".... then the place exploded.  I knew right then and there that this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.  My parents weren't thrilled when I moved band practice into our basement but they always supported me.

Thanks Mom and Greg, Dad and Beth.  I will always be thankful for what you did for me, even though you probably don't realize how much these two things changed my life.  I love you and I owe everything to you guys.
