A Long Overdue Thank You

Hello again and welcome back to the Official Blog of 3D In Your Face.  This week blog is kind of a personal one for the band.  We as a band get so wrapped up in playing and entertaining you crazy heavy metal maniacs that sometimes we loose site of the people that help us along the way.  I have been a part of 3D In Your Face for 6 years now, and some of these people have been with us since the beginning.  I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the men and women who help make this band what it is.  They have been there through the good times and bad times.  They have logged thousands of miles with us every year.  They have set up gear in every weather condition known to man.  They have slept on the bus with no heat, on the floor with no bed, and in the back of trucks rolling down the highway.  With this blog we are here to celebrate our faithful ROAD CREW.  These people have seen it all and still I can count on them for anything at anytime.  THANK YOU.  You guys are the ROCK to our ROLL.  Here we go.

First up is the guy that has been with us the longest.  Aaron Craig aka Thunder.  He has been with 3D In Your Face since time began.  Well not really that far back but he started before I joined on so it has been a long ride for him.  Aaron has the hardest job of all, he is our Sound Engineer.  He is the guy that sets up and tears down the PA every night.  He is the guy that knows what everyone of those knobs on the sound board does.  He has to hear us at our worst and then deal with us after the show.  But at the same time he makes us sound our best every time we hit that stage.  I really look up to this guy, he has been doing this since before I could tie my shoes.  He has seen things I can only dream of and has stories that only seem true in those rock n roll fairy tale books.  He is our Obi-Wan and the force is very strong with this one.

Next we have Dave Frame aka Lightning, our Lighting Engineer.  Dave has probably the biggest work load out of anyone in this band.  He has to set up and tear down an always changing lighting rig.  We always are looking for the newest and best light show to bring you, and he is the guy that is one step ahead of the game.  From the moment that trailer doors open to the moment he lays down to sleep this guys is working.  If you have ever seen a 3D In Your Face show you will know that Dave doesn't take his job lightly.  He is in tune with every song, with every beat, and with every lyric.  If there is one guy outside of the band that I can safely say is our manager, it is Dave.  After every show we run down the goods and the bads.  He tells  me very honestly what he liked and what needs to change in our show.  Dave is there at every load in and load out even if he has been up for 24 hours.  I look up to Dave like my Rock N Roll father and I trust every piece of advice he gives me.  He is another one of these guys that has been through it all and seen things I could only dream of.  He is our Yoda.  The strongest Jedi master of them all. (Thanks for letting me crash on your floor for the last 6 years.)

In the last few years this man has become a beacon of light in our little world.  Troy Way is another one of our Sound Engineers.  Through and through this man is a true fan of heavy metal Rock N Roll.  We've spent a lot of time with Troy and he has shown us a lot.  He isn't afraid to tell you how it is, even if it isn't good.  But Troy is also one of the funniest people I have ever met ( I even named my pet fish after Troy).  It seems like Troy is always up at the butt crack of dawn doing what sound guys do, being productive.  I can always count on him to deliver a loud ass show and mix a rock band like a rock band should be mixed.  And buddy if you don't like it loud your in the wrong fucking place.  Troy is a great friend that knows how to make me laugh even when things are shitty.  Troy is our Anakin Skywalker.  Strong yet dark.

The newest member to the road warriors is Jason Husak.  I haven't known Jason for very long but in the short time I have known him he has become my ace in the hole (no pun intended).  Whenever things get a little hairy I can always count on Jason for positive moral support.  He is also a hell of a Guitar Tech.  He has to deal with us on a personal and professional level.  Every little thing we need it is his job to make sure it gets taken care of.  I'm not sure he knew what he was getting into when he joined on as our Guitar Tech, but he has handled every task like a true professional.  Along with his guitar tech skills, Jason is also an amazing photographer.  He has taken well over 1000 pictures of the band at shows all over the country.  He is another one of those guys that is truly in love with Rock N Roll. I look forward to having this guy in my corner for a long time.  Jason is our Luke.  Young and ready for action.

Sean Soucy is another one of our guitar techs that only has a few shows under his belt.  But he has done some of the hardest shows we have ever been apart of.  I met Sean a few years back when I was playing in his band Eponymous.  From the first time we met, I knew this guys was the real deal.  We hit it off and I invited Sean out on a few shows this summer.  Coming on as the new guy is always hard but he more than handled every job that was asked of him.  Sean loves music and it shows in everything he does.  A true rock star and a great friend.  It is always great to look over my shoulder and see Sean on the side of the stage.  Sean is our Han Solo.

And last but not least Sierra Matthew.  Sierra has been the only female in a male dominate band for more years than I can remember.  Her skill for selling merchandise is only matched by her creativity in bringing us new merchandise ideas.  Along with social networking and internet support, Sierra has humped her fair share of gear over the years.  Sierra has also contributed greatly to our onstage costume design.  Every day Sierra inspires me to do better and reach farther.  Her support is unwavering.  So it is no surprise that Sierra is our Leia.

It can never be said enough times.  THANK YOU.  Without you we are nothing.

This weekend 3D In Your Face will be in Kearney, NE.  We will be playing Friday, Nov 2nd and 3rd at Shooters.  Kearney is our home away from home and is always a wild time.  Look out western Nebraska here we come.

War Stories Pt.1

Hello to all you hairy Rock N Roll fanatics.  For this weeks blog, I am going to try something a little different.   3D In Your Face has been performing, touring, and recording music for nearly 13 years.  In that time you better believe we have racked up our fair share of 'life in a traveling rock n roll band' stories.  I am going to do my best to remember some of these stories but I also want to encourage you to share your own 3D In Your Face war stories.  Feel free to post about your adventures on the way to our show, a wild night at a 3D In Your Face, or on your way back from our show.  We only get to see half of what happens on stage and we want to know what happened to you at a 3D In Your Face show.

3D In Your Face is blessed to be not only an original heavy metal glam band but we are also the nations number one 80's hair metal tribute band.  Because we play both originals and covers we are constantly get offers to play private parties everywhere across the country.  We jump at everyone of these offers because we know how wild a private party can be.  For this story we were on a three day tour and our second stop was a private party in Holdredge, NE.  Every year this couple invites all of their friends over to their farm house near Holdredge for a wild blow out party.  We got to play this party for a few years and always looked forward to it.  Imagine our tour bus rolling into this beautiful mid-western farm community.  We set all our gear up on a concrete slab that sits right outside of the barn.  I know what your thinking.  Really is this the place for an 80's big hair rock n roll blow out.  Well, after a big bbq feast and a few rather stiff drinks the party gets underway.

The crowd of around 200 rolls in around 10 PM ready for some fun.  The show goes off without a hitch.  After the music is when the story gets good.  At 1 AM all the farm boys turn into stage hands except everyone is hammered.  So we get the bus loaded and everyone crashes out for the night except me and the farm boys.  They ask me if I have ever started an irrigation pivot.  Of course me being a city boy I answer "No, but I would love to".  I always need to try something new or have a good story for when I get back.  So me, forgetting rule number one about touring (never leave your bus) I jump in the back of their pickup and speed off into the cool country air.  After a few miles we come upon said irrigation pivot.  I hop out still in full stage clothes and makeup and head straight to the motor of this mammoth beast.  After a quick lesson on how to get this thing started I turn the key and this massive farm implement kicks into high gear.

I have never heard anything this loud and remember I play in a band with the loudest guitar player on the planet.  I jump out of my skin and took a few steps back and my farm boy, stage hand friends just cackle at this city boy turned night farmer.  I couldn't believe the power and noise this thing emitted.  But the fact of the matter was that we were surrounded by nothing for miles upon miles.  Then it kind of hit me that I was in the middle of Nebraska in a corn field at 3 AM with a bunch of strangers.  I must have made a good impression because I can't remember when I laughed so hard.  They took me back to my bus as the sun was coming up, we popped a few wheelies in the farms golf cart and then I called it a night or day.

None of my band mates believed me when I told them the story the next day.  "You did what?  You went where?  With who?".  I will always be the first guy to try something crazy or new while we are out on tour and this was by far one of the wildest things I have ever done.  SPADE the farmer, except I don't wear hats.

This is just one of my stories and believe me I have more than you will ever need to hear.  Now it's your turn.  Post away.  I want the wild, the obscure, the nasty, and the bold.

Halloween is just around the corner and we are proud to announce our first ever 3D In Your Face Halloween Bash.  On Friday Oct 26th at the 21st Saloon, The Angry Bros will be hosting the biggest and baddest costume contest in Omaha.  Big Brain Tattoo will be supplying the prizes with an hour free tattoo gift card to the top male and female costume and a $200 dollar grand prize to the best overall costume of the night.  On top of the contest there will be giveaways, drink specials, and more fake blood than you have ever seen.  We love you, so we are throwing you the biggest and baddest party you have ever seen.  Dress sexy, dress scary, dress 80's, dress how ever you want.   The party starts at 9pm.

Thank you to everyone for ready our blog.  We couldn't do this without you.  Cheers to all you readers outside the USA.  Kearney, NE we are coming at you hard and fast next week.

Through Music We Can Live Forever

Hello again to all of you wonderful heavy metal, HAIR IN THE AIR, 3D In Your Face fanatics.  I wasn't sure what to write about this week in our blog, then something came to me.  We played two great shows this week and we were surprised at all the new faces in the audience.  The first show was at the 21st Saloon, our normal Friday night show.  Like usually our rabid fans were out in force, but we also welcome a lot of new comers.  Susan from Omaha Night Out stopped in a took a ton of pictures which we always love.  The boys from Hidden Agenda showed that they were not afraid to party like mother fucking rock stars.  Our Norfolk fan base decided to take a road trip and see the band on it's home turf.  Our lovely sponsors Gloss Hair Salon showed us why we teamed up with them in the first place.  Pure Rock N' Roll energy.  The IN YOUR FACE table was louder than I have ever heard.  The always faithful Tomasello crew sang every word to every song and knew the set list better than we did.  Ron Mcquire had a table as did Ritchie Ritz.  Also they guy I talked to last week about "keeping Rock N Roll alive" was there again.  The great team from EZ Money never disappoints.  Jason Sprinkel and his lovely wife payed us a visit and left with their Faces Rocked Off (thank you Jason, it's catching on).  Even our vacationing sound man Aaron, showed up with a freshly toured Johnny Metal and Sheena the punk rocker.  I'm sure I am forgetting a ton of people, but hey it's tough to remember three days ago.

Our Second show of the week was in Benson at the Waiting Room for the 8th annual Zombie Walk.  Tuco and the rest of NYDM went with an 80's theme and we were only too happy to bring them the best Rock N Roll 80's show we could possibly deliver.  I still had makeup on from the night before and I still was dressed down compared to the 3000 zombie army roaming the streets of Benson.  The show was amazing and we played with some really great bands, which is something we don't get to do that often.  Bolzen Beer Band from Lincoln, The Bishops, and Narcotic Self paved the way for us.  This was the first time 3D In Your Face has ever played The Waiting Room and we took the stage with a new energy that I have never seen before.  As for the audience they were insane.  Everyone dressed up like zombies.  Pints upon pints of fake blood spilled everywhere.  The ZRS research team was in the front row.  Complete with overdosed zombie groupies (thanks Toxie), and head banging front row fanatics, we were blown away by the response we receieved.  Also the fresh faces Tina Fox, Kat Jones (zombie Dee Snider), and Chad from the Filthy Few made this one of the funnest nights I have had in 3D In Your Face.

So here we stand at the edge of another weekend.  What do we have in store for you this week you ask?  Well this Friday like all other Fridays 3D In Your Face will be embarking on our 3rd week at the 21st Saloon.  We have decided to make this weeks theme Heavy Metal Arts and Crafts.  I'm serious here.  I know we have a lot of creative people in our audience and damn it I want to see it.  A few weeks ago we asked you to make us signs like you used to see at concerts back in the day.  There were a couple signs made but we want more.  In true 3D In Your Face fashion we want them bigger and badder.  So we are going to supply every person in the bar with cardboard, markers, and glitter.  We want to see how creative and crazy our fans can be.  Then we will post pictures of these works of art all over the internet for everyone to see.  Sound fun?

Tell your friends and spread the word.  This Friday at the 21st Saloon, 96th and L st. Omaha NE will be the first ever Heavy Metal Arts and Crafts Expo featuring the music of 3D In Your Face.  Feel free to bring your own supplies and get wild as you want.  There are no rules except to have fun.  Show starts at 930 pm and get there early.

Don't forget we have been busting our asses for you on all these new social media sites.  Please take a minute and 'like', 'follow', and 'add' 3D IN YOUR FACE.

I Still Believe In Rock N Roll

Rock is not dead.
We are here and we still believe.

I had a nice talk with a man at one of our shows this weekend, who thanked us for playing true Rock N' Roll the way it was meant to be played.  This really struck a cord with me.  3D In Your Face isn't a band for us the musicians, we are a band for YOU the fans.  The reason this band was started was because Rock N' Roll had disappeared and nobody was giving the fans what they wanted.  3D In Your Face has always been about the fans.  We as a band feel it's our duty to give to you, the greatest live concert experience we possibly can.  Good days or bad days.  Small venues or stadiums we must deliver every night.  Rock N' Roll is such a spiritual thing, and we owe YOU the best show every time we walk out on that stage.  This is something I will never take for granted.

This weekend 3D In Your Face was nominated for an OEAA, an Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award, for best cover band.  After 12 long years of carrying the torch of 80s hair metal someone final took notice.    This is another testament to you our fans, for voting for us, believing in us, and supporting us at every show.  We have been invited to the awards ceremonies in February, and you better believe we will be showing up in our full makeup and HAIR IN THE AIR.  It is now our job to represent you the fans to the OEAA commission and we are fully prepared.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  This is a great honor and privilege and we will do everything in our power to take this one home for the true Rock N Rollers.

We are coming at you hard this weekend Omaha, I hope you are prepared to have some fun.  Friday night we will be at our usual residency, The 21st Saloon.  This week we will be honoring our amazing sponsor Gloss Hair Salon and Day Spa.  3D In Your Face partnered with this team of amazing girls back in February at the beginning of the Fight Fire With Fire Tour.  They are the ones responsible for the AIR IN THE HAIR every night.  We can't thank them enough.  So we gave them their own night.  Starting at 7 pm and running through 9 pm the Gloss Girls will be doing free eye makeup, nail polish, and chair massages.  So get there early and enjoy some of the finer things 3D In Your Face has to offer.

Saturday night 3D In Your Face will be headlining the annual Omaha Zombie Walk at The Waiting Room.  We go on around 12 am but the Zombie Ball begins at 7 pm.  The walk itself starts at 6 pm and there will be makeup, food, and adult beverages.  All proceeds will be going to the Sienna/Francis House.  Come dressed as the living dead and walk through Benson with a thousand other Zombie Rock N Roll fanatics.  Playboy and I played this a few years ago and it is always one of the wildest shows every year.  Free 3D shirts to Zombie Elvis or Joey Ramone.

Thank you so much for reading our blog and supporting true Rock N Roll.
Thank you to all the over seas readers.  Cheers.
And remember don't stop believing.

Feel The Rhythm, Feel The Rhyme

What a difference a week makes in this crazy world that is 3D In Your Face. First the past, we played the first two warm up shows of our new tour.  End Of The World Tour started on Wednesday, Sept 26th 2012 at Harrahs Casino in Council Bluffs.  We followed that up with our return to our home bar the 21st Saloon on Friday the 28th.  After taking three weeks off and changing the set we didn't really know what to expect launching into this new tour so quickly.  The songs were there, the shows were booked, but could we as a band stand the stress and rigors that come along with being in a constantly working Rock N Roll band.  I can't answer that question right now but I can answer that we have made it priority number one to be unified in everything we do.  If we go up or down, left or right, we do it together as a family.  Sure families get angry and have fights, but families also love and look out for one another.  We are brothers bond together by a single cause.   ROCK N ROLL.  And if you think that is silly don't bother yourself with reading this blog.

Where do we stand now?  Today I am very excited.  Imagine 3D In Your Face on this great big roller coaster that will be our lives for the next 6 months.  We are all buckled in and just beginning the ascent up the first hill.  The anticipation is there, the fear is there, and the dedication is there.  The track is set out in front of us.  We live for this band and there is no turning back now.  Together as one.
Friday Oct. 5th will be our second (first official) show at the 21st Saloon and we have been working our asses off to bring you an amazing night of Rock N Fuckin' Roll.  We are proud to introduce Rockin' Rita as our first Featured Friday Night Sponsor.  Rita wrote an amazing autobiographical book entitled Once Upon A Rock Star.  This book chronicles Rita's life through the 80's and her x-rated adventures with some of Rock N Roll's most notorious stars.  She will be doing a book signing from 10 pm-12 am on Friday night.  I read the book myself and let me tell you the stories in this book will blow your mind.  3D In Your Face together with Rockin' Rita for a night of decadence and non-stop entertainment.

Saturday Oct. 6th we will be making a return trip to Lincoln, NE to Cappy's Hot Spot.  The last time we were in Lincoln we played at the Lancaster County Fair and let me tell you Lincoln delivers every time   The show starts at 9 pm so don't be late.  Cappy's is a very quaint joint and you don't want to be left without a table.

End Of The World Tour continues on.  GET IN SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP.  THIS IS 3D...........
